Season-High Seventh Straight Win
BEREA, OHIO — Sophomore guard Keith Aufmuth (Cleveland/ Brooklyn) scored a career-high 24 points today as the Baldwin-Wallace College men’s basketball team won its season-high seventh straight game and defeated host Marietta College, 80-66, in the nightcap of a women's and men's Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader at the Ban Johnson Fieldhouse in Marietta. The win also kept B-W in first place in the OAC depending upon the outcome of today's John Carroll versus Wilmington game in University Heights.
With its victory, B-W improves to 16-5 overall and 11-3 in the OAC. With its loss, Marietta drops to 9-12 overall and 4-10 in the OAC.
In addition to Aufmuth, junior forward Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door) had 18 points and nine rebounds, freshman forward Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door) had 17 points and freshman guard Matt Marks (Boardman) had 11 points for the Yellow Jackets. For Marietta, freshman center Matt Rucker led the way with 13 points. He was joined in double figures by freshman guard Scott Laslo and junior guad Trevor Schaffer with 10 points each.
In the first half, B-W led by as many as 15 points on several occassions, including at halftime, 40-25. In the second half, the Yellow Jackets extended their lead to as many as 26 points at 65-39 with 11:33 left in the game when Aufmuth canned two of three foul shots on a three-shot foul.
With his 18 points today, Thad Davis now has 1,245 career points and is now 15th on the all-time Yellow Jacket scoring list. Today, he surpassed Bob Scelza (1981-84) who scored 1,229 career points.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action next Wednesday when they host OAC rival Ohio Northern University at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea at 7:30 p.m.

Game Notes vs. Marietta
The BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE YELLOW JACKET men's basketball team travels to Marietta, Ohio to play Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at the Ban Johnson Fieldhouse. This will be the second game of a wmen's and men's doubleheader. Tip off for the men's game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
RADIO -- All away and some select home B-W men's basketball games are broadcast on campus radio station WBWC, 88.3 FM, and on the College Internet Web Site. Both games of today's doubleheader will be broadcast. The pregame show for the women's game is at 12:45 p.m. and the pregame show for the men's game is at 2:45 p.m.

The Pregame Notes -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak to seven straight games when it travels to Marietta, Ohio to play the Marietta College Pioneers in the second game of a women's and men's doubleheader in the Ban Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Yellow Jackets enter this game with a 15-5 overall and 10-3 OAC record following their 84-75 win versus OAC rival Heidelberg College in Tiffin on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets have won a season-high six consecutive games and are tied for first place in the OAC Standings.
Marietta enters this game with a 9-11 overall and 4-9 OAC record following its 73-67 win against Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio on Wednesday. The Pioneers have won two straight games and three of their last six contests.
The Current OAC Standings -- B-W and John Carroll University are tied for first place in the OAC with 10-3 records. Next week's Yellow Jacket opponents, Ohio Northern University (Wed., Feb. 11 in Berea) and Capital University (Sat., Feb. 14 in Berea), are tied for third place with 9-4 OAC slates. Otterbein College is in fifth place at 8-5 in OAC action.
The All-Time Baldwin-Wallace Versus Marietta All-Time Series-- This is the 67th all-time meeting between Baldwin-Wallace College and Marietta College in men's basketball. B-W leads the series, 41-25, including four straight wins. Earlier this season, on December 20, 2003 in Berea, the Yellow Jackets defeated the Pioneers, 90-83. The last Marietta win was a 73-67 victory in December of 2001.

Junior All-OAC forward Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door) led all scorers with 26 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds and was joined in double figures by his freshman brother, Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door), with a double-double of a career-high 21 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Thad also blocked a pair of shots and Tori collected three blocked shots. Junior point guard Tom Harrington (North Royalton/ Parma Hights Holy Name) had a double-double of his own as he chipped in with 12 points and a career-high 12 assists. Sophomore guard Keith Aufmuth (Brooklyn) also scored in double figures with 13 points and freshman guard Matt Marks (Baordman) added 10 markers. For the game, the Yellow Jackets shot 54.5% from the floor and were seven of 13 from three-point range for 53.8%.
The Baldwin-Wallace College Starters -- Look for veteran Yellow Jackets Head Coach Steve Bankson to start 6'3" junior Thad Davis, 6'3" freshman Tori Davis and 6'5" freshman Matt Marks on the inside. At the point guard will be 5'11" junior Tom Harrington and at the wing will be 6'0" sophomore Keith Aufmuth. Thad Davis leads the team in scoring at 19.0 ppg. and leads the OAC in rebounding at 10.3 rpg. Tori Davis is second in scoring and rebounding at 14.7 ppg., rebounding with 8.3 rpg. and leads the OAC with 51 blocked shots. Aufmuth is third in scoring at 12.8 ppg and is first with 35 three-pointers and 36 steals. Harrington is scoring 8.9 ppg. and tops the team and OAC with 114 assists and has canned 31 treys. Marks is averaging 7.9 ppg. and 2.7 rpg. and canned 20 treys.
Off the bench, look for Bankson to play 6'2" freshman guard Nick Meyer (Mentor), 6'2" sophomore guard/ forward Dan Gundert (Wellington) and 6'4" junior post player Jeremy Coffey (Hudson/Cuyahoga Valley Christian). Meyer is scoring 5.4 ppg. and has 14 treys. Coffey scores 3.4 ppg. and grabs 2.3 rpg.
The Marietta College Probable Starters and Preview-- Look for Head Coach Doug Foote to start to start 6'0" senior Cody Lane, 6'1" freshman Ryan Wilkinson, 6'3" freshman Scott Laslo , 6'4" junior Matt Hines and 6'5" junior Jason Collier. Hines leads the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game and rebounding at 6.6 per game. He has also canned 25 three-pointers. Lane averages 15.2 ppg. and tops the team with 59 assists and 45 three-pointers. Laslo is second in scoring at 15.3 ppg. grabs 6.3 rpg. and has 25 treys. Wilkinson has started four times and scores 3.1 ppg.
Off the bench, look for Foote to play 5'10" senior guard Dan Richards, 5'11" junior Trevor Schaffer, senior 6'5" Brian Tennant and junior 6'5" Brett Atherton. Richards scores 7.6 ppg.
In B-W's Last Game: Baldwin-Wallace -- 84, Heidelberg -- 75 on Wednesday, February 4 in Tiffin, Ohio -- The Yellow Jackets won their sixth straight game as they defeated Heidelberg College, 84-75, at the Seiberling Gymnasium in Tiffin on Wednesday. Freshman forward Tori Davis tied a career-high with 24 points to lead the Jackets'. He was joined in double figure scoring by sophomore guard Keith Aufmuth with 16 points, junior All-OAC forward Thad Davis with 14 and junior point guard Tom Harrington with 12. Keys in the B-W were B-W canning 51.8 percent of its field goals (29 of 56) and 19 of 24 foul shots for 79.2%.
In Marietta's Last Game: Marietta -- 73, Muskingum -- 67 on Wednesday, February 4 inNew Concord, Ohio -- The Pioneers won their second straight game as they defeated host Muskingum College, 73-67, at the Muskingum HPER Center in New Concord on Wednesday. Senior guard Cody Lane led Marietta with a game-high 26 points, including four three-pointers. Freshman swing man Scott Laslo had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and added seven assists. Junior forward Matt Hines also scored six points. Keys in the Pioneer win were shooting 54.3 percent from the floor (25 of 46) and holding Muskingum to just 41.4% shooting from the floor (24 of 58).

A Season-High Six Game Win Streak -- B-W has a season-high six-game winning streak. The previous high was four games. In the six-game streak, B-W has beaten Muskingum and Heidelberg each twice as well as Mount Union and Wilmington.

Thad Davis Two Points Shy of 15th -- Junior All-OAC forward Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door) needs two more points to move into a tie with Bob Scelza (1981-84) for 15th place on the all-time Yellow Jacket scoring chart. Thad Davis enters the Marietta game with 1,227 career points. His 580 career rebounds also rank eighth all-time.

Don't Foul Marks and Meyer -- Freshman guard/ forward players Matt Marks (Boardman) and Nick Meyer (Mentor) have combined to connect on 45 of 47 foul shots for 95.7 percent. Marks is 18 of 18 and Meyer is 27 of 29.
