Yellow Jacket Chatter

Davis Doubles Pleasure -- Junior All-OAC forward Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School) had five straight double figure scoring and rebounding games to begin the 2003-2004 season and has had a double-double in six of eight games.  Only a nine-rebound game against Otterbein two weeks ago and an eight-rebound game against Mount Union keeps Davis from being eight-of-eight.

He is Also OAC Player of the Week --  For his 24-point and 13-rebound effort last week in a 95-94 win versus Wilmington College, which included the winning basketball with five seconds left in the game, Thad Davis is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Baskeetball Player of the Week.

Bankson is the Winningest B-W Basketball Coach --  With his 333 victories at Baldwin-Wallace, Yellow Jacket Head Coach Steve Bankson is the winningest coach in school history.  Bankson, who has been at B-W for 24 years as the basketball coach and athletic director, has a career mark of 614-398 in 38 years overall.

He's Really Not the Other Davis -- Freshman forward Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door) is the brother of junior Thad Davis.  Tori, making his own mark on the court, is averaging 13.3 ppg., 8.1 rpg., shoots 54.7% from the floor and has 16 blocked shots.

Matt Marks Continues to Find His Mark -- Freshman wing player Matt Marks (Boardman) has started three of the past four games and has scored double figures in each start, including a career-high 11 points on Wednesday at Mount Union.

Hot Coffey --  Junior backup forward Jeremy Coffey (Hudson/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian School) scored 10 points in the win at Mount Union, including eight key first half points that also included two three-pointers.

The B-W Women Put Unbeaten Streak on the Line Versus Webster (Mo.) College -- The B-W women's basketball team, ranked 12th in Division III and 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the OAC, travel to the Franklin (Ind.) College Tournament to face Webster (Mo.) College.  The ladies have beaten the two teams (Wilminghton and Otterbein) that were picked by the OAC Coaches to finish ahead of them.  B-W beat both Wilmington (73-67) and Otterbein (71-59) "on the road".
