BEREA, OHIO - Freshman forward Tori Davis (Elyria/Open Door) tied a career-high with 24 points tonight as the Baldwin-Wallace College men's basketball team won its season-high sixth straight game and defeated host Heidelberg College, 84-75, in a key Ohio Athletic Conference game at the Seiberling Gymnasium in Tiffin. The win also kept B-W in first place in the OAC.
With its victory, B-W improves to 15-5 overall and 10-3 in the OAC and is no worse than tied with cross-town rival John Carroll University for first place in the OAC With its loss, Heidelberg drops to 4-16 overall and 2-11 in the OAC.
In addition to Tori Davis, sophomore guard Keith Aufmuth (Brooklyn) had 16 points, junior forward Thad Davis (Elyria/Open Door) had 14 points and junior point guard Tom Harrington (Parma/Holy Name) had 12 points for the Yellow Jackets. Senior forward Lucas Messer led Heidelberg with 19 points and eight rebounds and junior guard Kenny Gilbert had 11 markers.
In the first half, B-W led by as many as 15 points at 44-29 with two seconds left before the intermission when Harrington stole the ball and scored on a layup. In the second half, the Yellow Jackets extended their lead to as many as 20 points at 73-53 with 8:22 left in the game when Aufmuth canned a three-pointer. Heidelberg went on a final run and closed to within five points at 80-75 with 55 seconds left before B-W sealed the win.
With his 14 points today, Thad Davis now has 1,227 career points and is 15th on the all-time Yellow Jacket scoring list. Tonight, he surpassed Bob Scelza (1981-84) who scored 1,229 career points.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action this Saturday, February 7, when they travel to Marietta, Ohio to play Marietta College at the Ban Johnson Arena for a women's and men's doubleheader. The women's game begins at 1:00 p.m. and the men tip off at 3:00 p.m.

The Pregame Notes -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak to a season-high six straight games when it travels to Tiffin to play the Heidelberg College Student Princes. The Yellow Jackets are also tied for first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Yellow Jackets enter this game with a 14-5 overall and a 9-3 OAC record following their 50-39 win versus OAC rival Muskingum College in Berea on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets have now won a season-high five straight games and six of their last seven.
Heidelberg enters this game with a 4-15 overall and 2-10 OAC record following its 68-46 loss against Capital University in Columbus on Saturday. The Student Princes have now lost five of their last six games and 13 of their last 15 overall.
The Current OAC Standings -- The Yellow Jackets and Blue Streaks of John Carroll University are tied atop the Ohio Athletic Conference with 9-3 OAC records. Just one game back are Capital University, Otterbein College and Ohio Northern University in second place at 8-4 in league play. Mount Union College is sixth at 7-5 after losing to both B-W and ONU this week.
The All-Time Baldwin-Wallace Versus Heidelberg All-Time Series-- This is the 92nd all-time meeting between Baldwin-Wallace College and Heidelberg College in men's basketball. B-W leads the all-time series between the two schools, 55-36, including a 90-77 victory in Berea on January 21, 2004. At the point guard will be 5'11" Tom Harrington and at the wing will be 6'0" Keith Aufmuth. Thad Davis leads the team in scoring at 19.3 ppg. and leads the OAC in rebounding at 10.5 rpg. Tori Davis is second in scoring and rebounding at 14.2 ppg., and 8.3 rpg. He also leads the OAC with 48 blocked shots. Aufmuth is third in scoring at 12.6 ppg and is first with 33 three-pointers. Harrington is scoring 8.7 ppg. and tops the team with 110 assists and has canned 30 treys. Marks is averaging 7.9 ppg. and 2.6 rpg.
Off the bench, look for Bankson to play 6'2" Nick Meyer (Mentor), 6'2" sophomore guard/ forward Dan Gundert (Wellington) and 6'4" Jeremy Coffey (Hudson/Cuyahoga Valley Christian).
The Heidelberg College Probable Starters and Preview-- Look for Head Coach Duane Sheldon to start 6'8" freshman forward Ron Higgins, 6'7" senior forward Lucas Messer, and 6'6" freshman forward T.J. Johnson on the inside, and 6'1" sophomore guard Nolan Edwards and 5'11" junior guard Kenny Gilbert in the backcourt. Messer leads the team in scoring at 21.0 ppg, rebounding at 8.1 rpg, and in block shots with 18. Gilbert is second in scoring averaging 16.2 ppg, and has canned a team-leading 32 3's shooting a remarkable 37.6%. He also leads the team with 43 steals. Higgins is third in scoring at 9.0 ppg, and second in rebounding at 5.6 rpg. He is also second on the team in blocked shots with 14. Edwards is averaging 7.6 ppg and leads the team in assists with 46. Johnson is averaging 4.5 ppg.
Off the bench, look for Sheldon to play 6'5" senior forward Andy Carter, 6' junior guard Kyle Tackett, 6' junior guard Lorenzo Smith, 6'2" sophomore guard Scott Morrison, and 6' freshman guard Mike Stull.
In B-W's Last Game: Baldwin-Wallace -- 50, Muskingum -- 39 on Saturday, January 31 in Berea, Ohio -- The Yellow Jackets defeated the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum College, 50-39, last Saturday at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. Despite shooting 31.1 percent from the field, B-W won its season-high fifth straight game. Junior forward Thad Davis led the way with a game-high 13 points and added eight rebounds. Also in double figures were freshman forward Tori Davis with 12 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and five blocked shots and freshman guard Nick Meyer with 12 points and two key three-pointers.
In Heidelberg's Last Game: Capital -- 68, Heidelberg -- 46 on Saturday, January 31 in Columbus, Ohio -- The Student Princes shot just 34.1 percent from the field and lost 68-46 to OAC rival Capital Universiy on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. Despite the loss, Heidelberg was led by junior guard Kenny Gilbert with nine points. Also, freshman post player Ron Higgings added eight points and seven rebounds and OAC leading scorer, senior forward Lucas Messer, was held to just seven points, but grabbed nine rebounds.

Thad Davis Closing Passes 1,200 and is Eyeing 15th Place -- Junior forward Thad Davis enters the Heidelberg game with 1,212 career points and stands 16th on the all-time Yellow Jacket scoring list. He needs 18 points to surpass Bob Scelza (1981-84) for 15th place. He also has 581 career rebounds to rank eighth all-time.
The OAC Statistical Catagory Leaders -- Thad Davis leads the OAC inrebounding at 10.5 rpg. His younger brother, freshman forward Tori Davis, tops the OAC with 48 blocked shots. Junior point guard Tom Harrington leads the OAC in assists with 110.
Five Straight Wins is a Season-High -- B-W's current five-game winning streak is a season high. The previous season-high was four. After losing its season-opener to nationally-ranked Randolph-Macon (Va.), B-W reeled off four consecutive wins.
