BEREA, OHIO --Junior guard Charles Ransom scored a team-high 24 points and canned seven three-pointers as Ramapo (N.J.) beat Baldwin-Wallace College, 93-86, in the consolation game in the Cactus Hoop Jam Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets dropped to 7-4 overall. Ramapo improved to 8-2.

Ramapo placed four players in double figures. Joining Ransom were senior guard Rasheed Gadsen with 16 points, senior guard Tennyson Whitted with 14 and junior guard Jay DeGroat with 13. The Yellow Jackets also placed four players in double figures, led by senior forward
Shawn McCormick (Massillon/Jackson H.S.) with a game-high 30 points. Also scoring double digits were senior guard
Jon Carroll (Berea/Midpark H.S.) with 18, sophomore forward
Thad Davis (Elyria/Open Door H.S.) with 17 and junior forward
Eric Reminder (Brunswick) with 12. For the three-game tournament,
McCormick scored 85 points and led all players in scoring.
In the first half, Ramapo led by as many as 17 points at 37-20 with 4:40 left before the intermission. Ramapo also led at halftime, 45-31. In the second half, Ramapo extended its lead to as many as 18 points at 61-42 with 15:29 left in the game. Then B-W went on a 32-15 run to get within one point at 75-74 with 4:19 left when sophomore guard Tom Harrington (North Royalton/Holy Name H.S.)canned a three-pointer. But Ramapo finished with a 18-12 run to earn the victory.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday, January 8, when they resume Ohio Athletic Conference play and host Ohio Northern University at 7:30 p.m. in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. B-W is also at home on Saturday, Jan. 11, against 22nd-ranked Capital University at 3:00 p.m.
