The Yellow Jackets enter this game with a 13-12 record overall and 9-9 OAC record following their 76-72 upset win over Otterbein College last Saturday in Berea. The win secured B-W’s 14th season in the last 15 years with a .500 or better record, including 11 winning seasons.

Mount Union enters this game with a 17-8 overall and 12-6 OAC record following its 58-56 win at Muskingum College last Saturday. The Purple Raiders have won seven of their last eight games.

The Baldwin-Wallace vs. Mount Union All-Time Series -- This is the 107th all-time meeting in men's basketball between Baldwin-Wallace College and Mount Union College. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series, 64-42, but Mt. Union won the last game between the two teams in Alliance, 72-71, on January 29, 2003.

Baldwin-Wallace -- 71-- The Yellow Jackets dropped to 10-8 overall and 6-5 in the OAC and ended a three-game winning streak when they lost, 72-71, to host Mount Union College in Alliance at the Timken Physical Education Center. The Purple Raiders only lead ofthe game came when Curtis Stevens hit a jumper with 3.9 seconds left to steal the victory. Despite the loss, B-W was led by sophomore forward Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School) with a game-high 20 points. Senior three-time All-OAC forward Shawn McCormick (Massillon Jackson) and sophomore point guard Tom Harringtonalso (North Royalton/ Parma Heights Holy Name) also scored double figures with 19 and 16 points, respectively. Harrington also had a career-high 10 assists.

In B-W's Last Game on Saturday, February 22, 2003 versus Otterbein in Berea, Ohio: Baldwin-Wallace -- 76, Otterbein -- 72-- The Yellow Jackets won their regular season finale and improved to 13-12 overall and 9-9 in the OAC when it defeated Otterbein College, 76-72, in Berea at the Urspring Gymnasium. In the victory, B-W was led by Thad Davis’ career-high 28 points and game-high 14 rebounds. In addition,Shawn McCormick added 17 points, including three-for-five from "three-point land". Leading the way for Otterbein was Aaron Minister with a game-high 30 points.

The Yellow Jacket Statistical Leaders -- After 25 games, Shawn McCormick leads the team in scoring at 20.1 points per game and is tied for second on the team in rebounding at 4.8 rebounds per game. He also leads the team in free-throw shooting at 86.5 percent (83 of 96 attempts) and first with 48 steals. Thad Davis is second in scoring at 17.2 ppg. and leads the team in rebounding with 8.4 rpg and 38 blocked shots. Jon Carroll is third on the team in scoring at 14.0 ppg. and is second on the team with 110 assists.Tom Harrington is fourth in scoring at 8.6 ppg. and leads the team with 111 assists and is third in steals with 35. Eric Reminder is fifth in scoring at 7.7 ppg. and is tied for second with McCormick with 4.8 rpg. He is shooting 54.8 percent from the field (74 of 135). Keith Aufmuth is the top scorer off the bench and is averaging 3.7 ppg.

Scouting the Purple Raiders of Mount Union College-- Look for Head coach Lee Hood to start 6'6" freshman Kyle Karpsinski and 6'8" junior Curtis Stevens on the inside. In the backcourt, look for Hood to start 5'11" sophomore Brad Gerard, 6'2" junior Aaron Brownsword and 5'10" sophomore Clay Sanders to start. Off the bench, look for Head Coach Lee Hood to ultilize the services of 6'5" sophomore guard Chris Blakely, 6'3" sophomore guard Brett Hershberger and 6'6" junior post Rob Paulauskas. Also Tony Basalla will see action in the backcourt.

In MUC's Last Game on Saturday February 22nd, 2003 versus Muskingum in New Concord: MUC-- 58, Muskingum-- 56-- The Purple Raiders inproved to 17-8 overall and 12-6 in the OAC with a 58-56 win against the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum College on Saturday in New Concord at the HPER Center. The win was Mount Union’s seventh in its last eight games. In victory,Mount Union was led by Curtis Stevens’ 15 points and six rebounds. Stevens also scored the game-winning jumper with 1:07 left to break a 54-all tie. Also, Chris Blakely had 10 points and Aaron Brownsword dished out eight assists.

The Purple Raiders Statistical Leaders -- After 25 games, Mount Union is led in scoring by Rob Paulauskas with 13.9 ppg. and he is third with 4.4 rpg. Paulauskas makes 51.1 percent of his field goals and 79.2 percent of his foul shots and has 31 steals. Brad Gerard is second in scoring at 13.1 ppg. and leads the Purple Raiders with 80 three-pointers and adds 33 steals. Curtis Stevens is third in scoring at 10.7 ppg. and second with 4.6 rpg. He cans a team-leading 54.3 percent of his field goals (113 of 208). Chris Blakely is fourth in scoring at 9.7 ppg. and first with 5.0 rpg. Aaron Brownsword is fifth in scoring at 9.4 ppg., grabs 4.1 rpg., has passed for 50 assists and has made 32 steals. Clay Sanders scores 4.4 ppg. and grabs 2.7 rpg. and tops the team with 146 assists and 36 steals. Kyle Karpinski scores 3.8 ppg. and grabs 2.1 rpg. Brett Hershberger scores 3.3 ppg. in 22 games and has 15 treys. Tony Basalla scores 1.6 ppg. in 15 games and has dished out 34 assists.

McCormick is Third All-Time in Scoring at B-W -- Senior three-time All-OAC forward Shawn McCormick (Massillon Jackson) scored 17 points in a 76-72 win on Saturday versus Otterbein and is now third on the all-time scoring list with 1,857 points. The top three all-time leading scorers are Dean Martin (1969-73) with 2,062 points, Kevin Braaten (1993-97) with 1,867 points and Bob Walters (1959-63) with 1,840 points.

Carroll is 25th Now -- Senior two-time Academic All-OAC guard Jon Carroll (Berea/ Midpark) is now 25th on the all-time scoring list with 1,069 points. With his eight-point effort on Wednesday versus JCU.

Davis Coming Up Big-- During that last seven game span, Davis has scored 143 points for a 20.4 scoring average, grabbed 84 rebounds for 12.0 rpg. and blocked 13 shots for 1.9 bpg. Davis has canned 47 of 78 field goal attempts for 60.3 percent and 49 of 68 foul shots for 72.1 percent. He has had double-doubles in six of the last seven games. Last Saturday versus Otterbein, Davis scored a career-high 28 points.

McCormick and Carroll Named Verizon All-District IV -- Shawn McCormick (3.75 grade point average in MBA program) is a first-team Verizon Academic All-District IV selection and Jon Carroll (3.5 GPA in business administration and sport management) is a second-team selection. McCormick now qualifies for the Verizon Academic All-America ballot.
