BEREA, OHIO -- Sophomore guard Louis Tumblin (Elyria/ Senior) scored 23 points and sophomore forward Kyle Brown (Strongsville) added 22 points today (Saturday, February 16, 2008) as the Baldwin-Wallace College men's basketball team defeated Muskingum College, 87-74, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
With its win, the Yellow Jackets improved to 9-14 overall and 6-10 in the OAC and ended a two-game losing streak. With its loss, the Fighting Muskies dropped to 14-9 overall and 8-8 in the OAC.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 9-4 lead at the 17:06 mark when made two foul shots. The Fighting Muskies then went on a 13-0 run to take a 20-9 lead at the 12:31 mark when junior guard Trevor Scott made his third straight three-pointer.
B-W cut Muskingum’s lead to 24-19 with 8:41 left when junior center Andrew Bene (Hinckley/ Medina Highland) made a layup. The Muskies then went on a 14-6 run to increase their lead to 13 points at 38-25 with 4:53 left when junior center Ben Miller made a layup. The Jackets then went on their own 12-2 run to cut the lead to four points at 40-37 with 2:23 left when Tumblin made a three-pointer. Muskingum led at halftime, 43-37.
In the second half, B-W opened with a 9-1 run to regain the lead at 46-44 at the 16:53 mark when Brown made a three-pointer. The Yellow Jackets then built their lead to 12 points at 60-48 with 12:50 left in the game when senior 2-time All-OAC guard Brendan Schuler (Fairview Park/ Fairview) scored on a layup.
Muskingum then went on a 11-3 run to cut B-W’s lead to four points at 63-59 with 8:34 remaining when Felt made a layup. After a Scott three-pointer at the 4:24 mark cut the lead to 73-71, B-W got a three-pointer from Brown and a foul shot from Sekerak to push the lead to six points at 77-71 with 3:37 left. The lead moved to 13 points by the final buzzer.
In addition to Tumblin and Brown, Bene had 13 points and Schuler 12 for the Yellow Jackets. Felt led Muskingum with a game-high 30 points, Scott had 24 and senior guard Brandon Todd had 10.
B-W will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 20 when it hosts OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University on Seniors' Night in Berea at 7:30 p.m.

In the B-W's Last Game on Feb. 13 versus Otterbein College : Otterbein-- 94, Baldwin-Wallace -- 84-- In B-W's last game, a 94-84 loss to Otterbein College on Wednesday (Feb. 13) in Westerville, the Yellow Jackets were led by Kyle Brown with 19 points and Louis Tumblin with 14 points. In addition, both Dennis Santiago and Paul Glass came off the bench to each score 13 points. A large key to the loss was Otterbein shooting 55.6% from three-point range and connecting on 15-of-27 triples.

Off the bench, look for Ford to also play 6'1" junior guard Logan Scott, 6'1" sophmore guard Cory Bourquin and 6'5" senior forward Andy Glass, who is the older brother of B-W sophomore forward Paul Glass. Bourquin is scoring 5.8 ppg. and has 27 three-pointers. Andy Glass scores 4.9 ppg. and has 21 three's.
In the Muskies Last Game on Feb. 13 versus Marietta College in New Concord: Muskingum-- 76, Marietta-- 70- - In Muskingum's last game, a 76-70 victory against Marietta College in New Concord, the Muskies were led by Tyler Felt with a team-high 20 points. He also had seven rebounds and three three-pointers. In addition, Brandon Todd added 12 points and eight assists and Trevor Scott had 11 points. Keys to the Muskies win were canning eight three-pointers and forcing the Pioneers into making 14 turnovers.

Brendan Schuler 21st All-Time in Scoring -- In Wednesday's 94-84 loss to Otterbein College, Brendan Schuler scored nine points to give him 1,121 career points. He surpassed the legendary Dick Scott (1964-68) for 21st place on the alltime scoring list. Schuler needs 15 more points to pass Keith Aufmuth (2002-2006) to move into the Top-20. In addition, Schuler also stands fourth in career assists with 461 and eighth in three pointers with 178.
Head Coach Steve Bankson Third All-Time in OAC History and Nearing 700 Career Wins -- Veteran Yellow Jacket Head Coach Steve Bankson ranks third on the all-time OAC Coaching Win List and is first all-time at B-W with 416. He has a 416-327 mark in 28 seasons at the College. In addition, Bankson has 697 career wins in 44 total years as a head coach and an all-time mark of 697-441.
Tori Davis Named to d3hoops.com All-Decade Team -- Tori Davis, who completed his collegiate career a year ago, was named to the d3hoops.com Internet Web site All-Decade Team. The Web site is celebrating its 10th season of operation in 2007-2008.
Santiago is Academic All-OAC Candidate Again -- Junior guard Dennis Santiago earned Academic All-OAC accolades a year ago and again is a candidate. He carries a 3.27 grade average in political science.
