BEREA, OHIO —Sophomore guard Dennis Santiago (Brook Park/Midpark) scored 20 points tonight, (Wednesday, January 24, 2007) as the Baldwin-Wallace College men’s basketball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference arch-rival Mount Union College, 84-66, in the Timken Physical Education Building in Alliance.
With its win, the Yellow Jackets are now 12-6 overall and 7-4 in the OAC and have won two straight games this season and eight in a row versus the Purple Raiders. Mt. Union fell to 8-10 overall and 3-8 in the OAC and has lost four straight contests.
In addition to Santiago for the Yellow Jackets, senior forward Tori Davis (Elyria/Open Door Christian School) scored 18 points and sophomore post Andrew Bene (Hinckley/Medina Highland) had 17 points. Chris Switzer led Mt. Union with 16 points.
In the first half, Bene got off to an early start scoring the first six points to give the Yellow Jackets a 6-0 lead . However, the Purple Raiders came back to tie the game at 11-11, with a three-pointer by Stu Anglum at the 14:39 mark. Both teams exchanged backets up and down the court with a total of six ties and five lead changes in the first half alone. The Yellow Jackets led, 39-33, at the half.
In the second half, Davis made the first basket of the half for the Yellow Jackets to reach 2,000 points at the 19:21 mark. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 10 point lead at 49-39, with a layup by Bene at the 17:09 mark. The Purple Raiders fought back to tie the score at 60-60 with an old-fashoned three-point play by Anglum at the 8:16 mark. Then, B-W the closed the game on a 24-6 run.
With his 18 points, Davis now has 2,007 career points and became the 11th player in the 104-year history of the OAC to top the 2,000-point plateau in men's basketball. He is second place on the all-time Yellow Jacket scoring list and needs 56 more points to surpass the all-time leading scorer Dean Martin (1969-73) who had 2,062 career points. In addition, Davis now also has 861 career rebounds to rank sixth all-time and has a school career-record 219 blocked shots.
The Yellow Jacket next play on Saturday, January 27 when they host Ohio Northern University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea at 7:30 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets enter this game with a 11-6 overall and 6-4 OAC record following their 81-78 win against Capital University last Saturday (Jan. 20) in Berea. The win broke a three-game losing streak.
The Purple Raiders enter this game at 8-9 overall and 3-7 in the OAC following their 65-61 loss last Saturday (Jan. 20) in New Concord to Muskingum College. Mt. Union has lost three straight and four-of-its-last-five games overall.
The All-Time Series Between B-W and Mount Union-- This is the 117th all-time meeting between B-W and Mount Union in men’s basketball. B-W leads the series between the two schools, 73-43, including an 81-75 win in Berea in the first meeting of this season on December 20, 2006. B-W has won seven straight games against the Raiders. The last Mount Union win came on February 25, 2004 when the Raiders beat B-W, 80-74, in the OAC Tournament in Berea.

Union, on December 20, 2006 in the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea, the Yellow Jackets defeated the Purple Raides, 81-75. Leading the way for B-W was 6'3" senior All-American forward Tori Davis and 5'11" sophomore guard Dennis Santiago as each scored 21 points. In addition for the Jackets', 6'1" freshman guard Louis Tumblin added 13 points. Mt. Union was led by 6'0" freshman guard Sam King with 15 points and seven assists.

Santiago is third in scoring with 11.4 ppg., grabs 3.4 rpg. and is second on the team with 29 three-pointers. Sekerak scores 6.1 ppg.,has 13 triples and is third with 15 steals.

Mount Union College Probable Starters and Information-- The Purple Raiders score 69.9 points per game and give up 69.1 ppg. for a scoring differential of plus 0.8 ppg. Mount Union is grabbing 35.2 rebounds per contest,0.7 less per game than its opponents. Mount Union shoots 48 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 63 percent from the foul line.
Look for Head Coach Lee Hood to start 6'0" freshman point guard Sam King along with 6'3" senior Eric Fender and 6'3" freshman Nick Sefscik on the wings. Sophomore Stu Anglumat 6'4" and 6'7" freshman Chris Crawford will start in the Post for the Purple Raiders. Anglum tops the team in scoring at 17.1 ppg. and rebounding at 7.6 rpg. and shoots 50 percent (104-of-210 attempts) from the field and 54 percent (43-of-80 attempts) from the foul line. In Mount Union's Last Game Versus Muskingum on Jan. 20 in New Concord, Ohio: Muskingum -- 65, Mount Union-- 61-- In Mount Union's last game, the Purple Raiders lost 65-61 to Muskingum College at the Muskingum Recreation Center in New Concord on Saturday. Steve Bankson Was the Fourth Coach in OAC History to Win 400 Games -- When B-W beat Muskingum on Saturday, January 6 in New Concord, veteran Yellow Jacket Head Coach Steve Bankson became just the fourth coach in OAC history to achieve 400 wins at an OAC institution. He already is the winningest men's basketball coach in school history with 400 victories and has a 401-309 record in 27 seasons. Bankson also has 682 career wins in 43 years overall and a 682-424 mark overall.
Tori Davis Has 1,991 Career Points and is Second All-Time at B-W -- Tori Davis has 1,991 career points and needs nine more to become just the 11th player in the 104-year history of the Ohio Athletic Conference to score 2,000 in his career and needs 72 points to pass Dean Martin's (1969-73) B-W school record of 2,062 points. In addition, Davis is sixth all-time in rebounding with 855 and is the school record-holder with 216 blocked shots.
