BEREA, OHIO — Senior forward Tori Davis (Elyria/Open Door Christian School) scored 22 points as the Baldwin-Wallace College men’s basketball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College, 74-68 today (Saturday, February 17, 2007) in the Ban Johnson Arena in Marietta. B-W won its fourth straight game this season and has beaten Marietta 11 straight times dating back to December 12, 2001.
With its win, B-W is 17-8 overall and ends the OAC regular season at 12-6 and is the third seed for the upcoming OAC Tournament and host sixth-seed Heidelberg College on Wednesday in Berea at 7:30 p.m. B-W is the two-time defending OAC Tournament champion. Marietta ends its regular season at 5-20 overall and 1-17 in the OAC and lost for the eighth straight time and 14th time in its final 15 contests.
In addition to Davis for the Yellow Jackets, junior guard Brendan Schuler (Fairview Park/Fairview) had 16 points and sophomore guard Dennis Santiago (Brook Park/Midpark) followed with 12 points. Marietta was led by Isaiah Creasap with 26 points.
In the first half, the Pioneers jump out to an early lead at 25-17 with a three-pointer from Tyler Morando at the 7:20 mark. The Yellow Jackets fought their way back to tie the score at the end of the half with a putback by Santiago at the 0:17 mark.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets began with a strong 12-5 run with a layup by junior guard Tyler Sekerak (Corry, Pa./Corry) at the 17:08 mark. Marietta answered back to regain the lead at 52-51, at the 11:07 mark with a jumper by Matt Phillips. B-W came back to take the lead at 61-60, with a three-pointer by Schuler at the 5:30 mark. The Yellow Jackets closed the deal and never allowed the lead again with the final score of 74-68.
With his 22 points today, Davis remains seventh on the all-time OAC scoring list with 2,187 points. Davis also has 923 career rebounds to rank fifth and is B-W’s all-time leading shot blocker with 239.
The OAC Men's Basketball Final Four is on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24 at the site of the highest remaining seed following Wednesday's four first round games.

The 2007 OAC Tournament begins on Wednesday, Feb. 21 with B-W playing a home game. B-W also will be looking for its 11th consecutive victory versus the Pioneers.
The Yellow Jackets enter this game with a 16-8 overall and 11-6 OAC record following their 81-77 upset victory against OAC and Cleveland cross-rown rival John Carroll University on Wednesday (Feb. 14) in Berea. B-W has won three straight games and has beaten JCU six consecutive times.
The Pioneers enter this game at 5-19 overall and 1-16 in the OAC following their 69-56 loss to Mount Union College last Wednesday (Feb. 14) in Alliance. Marietta has lost seven straight games and 13 of its last 14 overall.
The All-Time Series Between B-W and Marietta-- This is the 72nd all-time meeting between B-W and Marietta in men’s basketball. B-W leads the series between the two schools, 47-25, including 10 straight victories. B-W won the previous contest earlier this season, on December 16, 2006 in Berea, by the score of 65-57. Leading the way for B-W was 6'3" senior All-American forward Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School) with game-highs of 23 points and 10 rebounds. He also had three assists and two blocked shots. In addition, 6'3" freshman guard Tom Jesko (Salem/ Senior) scored 10 points and connected on all three of his threepoint field goal attempts. The Pioneers were led by 6'1" sophomore guard Tyler Morando with 15 points and 6'8" senior center Matt Rucker had 13 points and a team-high nine caroms. Marietta led at halftime, 34-27, but the Yellow Jackets outscored the Pioneers, 38-23, in the second half to win for the 10th straight time versus their OAC rival.

In Marietta's Last Game Versus Mount Union on Feb. 14 in Alliance, Ohio: Marietta-- 56, Mount Union-- 69-- In Marietta's last game, a 69-56 loss at Mount Union College on Thursday (Feb. 15) in Alliance in the Timken PE Building, the Pioneers were led by sophomore guard Isaiah Creasap with 14 points. He was the lone Marietta player to score double figures.

OAC Tournament Begins Next Wednesday -- The 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament begins next Wednesday, February 21 at four separate home sites. Capital University has already clinched at least a tie for the regular season title and is the number-one seed. If Capital wins its Feb. 21 game, it will host the Final Four on Feb. 23-24. The winner of the OAC Tournament receives the OAC's automatic berth in the 2007 NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Current OAC Standings -- Capital University leads the OAC at 13-4 and is followed by John Carroll (12-5), B-W and Ohio Northern University (both at 11-6), Otterbein College (10-7), Heidelberg College (9-8), Wilmington College (8-9) and Muskingum College and Mount Union College (both 5-12). Either Muskingum or Mt. Union will earn the final OAC tourney berth and Marietta College (1-16) is already eliminated from tournament consideration.
Steve Bankson Becomes Fourth Coach in OAC History to Win 400 Games -- When B-W beat Muskingum on Saturday, January 6 in New Concord, veteran Yellow Jacket Head Coach Steve Bankson became just the fourth coach in OAC history to achieve 400 wins at an OAC institution. He already is the winningest men's basketball coach in school history with 406 victories and has a 406-312 record in 27 seasons. Bankson also has 687 career wins in 43 years overall and a 687-425 mark. Bankson also serves as the school's athletic director.
Tori Davis Has 2,165 Career Points and is First at B-W and Ninth in OAC History -- Tori Davis is B-W's all-time leading scorer with 2,165 career points and stands seventh all-time in OAC history surpassing Kenyon's John Dunlop (1965-69) for seventh place.
In addition, Davis is fifth all-time in rebounding with 915 in his career, and is the school record-holder with 237 career blocked shots.
