Four Baldwin-Wallace College Basketball Student-Athletes Named to 2008 Academic All-OAC Teams

BEREA, OHIO --  Four Baldwin-Wallace College basketball student-athletes, three women and one male, have been named to the 2008 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams.

The three women named Academic All-OAC are senior guard Selena Eskinazi-Budge (Beachwood), senior forward Stacia Shrider (Marietta/ Warren Local) and sophomore center Ariel Brough (Powell/ Olentangy Liberty).  Junior guard Dennis Santiago (Brook Park/ Middleburg Heights Midpark) represented the men’s team as an honorable mention choice.

Budge is a pre-physical therapy major with a 3.86 grade point average who will attend The Ohio State University doctoral program in physical therapy beginning this summer. She topped the Yellow Jackets in scoring at 10.7 points per game and 47 steals, was second with 63 assists and 30 blocked shots and grabbed 3.7 rebounds per game. Last week, she was named as a first-team All-OAC selection. Budge ended her two-year B-W career (she spent her first two seasons at NCAA Division I Miami of Florida where she was an Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference pick as a sophomore) with 502 points, 123 rebounds, 80 assists, 82 steals and 40 blocked shots and helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 44-6 record during her 50 appearances in the Brown & Gold.

Shrider carries a 3.7 grade point average in special education and will complete her student teaching this spring. She completed a solid four-year varsity career this winter and helped B-W to a 95-21 overall record with three OAC regular season and two OAC Tournament titles and three NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances, including an Elite 8 finish in 2005-2006 and advancing to the second round this winter. This season, Shrider scored 4.9 ppg. and grabbed a team-leading 6.7 rpg. For her efforts this season, she was named as an honorable mention All-OAC player. For her career, Shrider scored 517 points, grabbed 543 rebounds, passed for 151 assists, made 113 steals and added 26 blocked shots. Her 543 career rebounds ranked eighth all-time in school history.

Brough carries a 3.93 grade point average in political science. She is B-W’s starting center and scored 6.9 ppg., grabbed 5.9 rpg. and blocked a school single-season record 59 shots this winter. After two seasons, Brough already has a school career-record 90 blocked shots, scored 301 points and grabbed 153 rebounds.

The trio helped the B-W women compile a 27-3 record this winter, win both the OAC regular season and OAC Tournament titles, capture the Anderson (Ind.) University Tip-Off and B-W Holiday tournament crowns and advance to the second rond of the 2008 NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Santiago carries a 3.3 grade average in criminal justice and is a repeat Academic All-OAC choice. The three-year varsity contributor scored 7.9 ppg., grabbed 3.1 rpg. and made 26 three-pointers this winter for the 12-15 overall Yellow Jackets. In his three seasons on the varsity, Santiago has scored 616 points, grabbed 198 rebounds, made 86 three-pointers, passed for 75 assists and made 43 steals.
