Baldwin-Wallace College Winter Sport Duo Named as Ohio Athletic Conference Players-of-the-Week

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College duo of senior men’s basketball All-American forward Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School) and sophomore distance ace Ashley Scullion (Grand Rapids, Mich./ East Kentwood) have been named as Ohio Athletic Conference players-of-the-week in their respective sports on February 19.

For Davis, it is the third straight week he has been selected, four time this winter and a school-record 10th time during his outstanding career. For Scullion, it marks her third time this winter in indoor track and sixth time this school year, including three times during cross country season.

Davis scored 54 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, blocked seven shots, made three steals and passed for two assists in two victories last week. He had a season-high 32 points with 10 rebounds and five blocks in an 81-77 upset of then first place and cross-town rival John Carroll University on Feb. 14. He added 22 more points with eight rebounds in a 74-68 win at Marietta College on Feb. 17. For the week, Davis connected on 19-of- 32 shots from the floor for 59.4 percent and 16-of-19 from the foul line for 84.2 percent. He now ranks seventh all-time on the OAC scoring list with 2,187 points. Davis also is fifth all-time at B-W with 923 rebounds and first with 239 career blocked shots. He previously earned the OAC honor on Dec. 18, 2006, Feb. 5, 2007 and last week.

For the season, Davis tops the OAC in scoring at 22.4 points per game, is third with 8.7 rebounds and 56 blocked shots. He shoots 65.2 percent from the floor (193-of-296) and 73.2 percent from the foul line (175- of-239). He also has 44 assists and 14 steals.

Davis and the Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 21) when they host Heidelberg College in a first round OAC Tournament game in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.

Scullion earned her honor for her efforts in leading the Yellow Jackets to the title at the annual Greater Cleveland College Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet last Friday (Feb. 16) on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. Scullion broke her own school-record in the 1-mile run by 5.44 seconds with a timing of 5:03.24 and won the 800-meter run in 2:19.16. She won the OAC honor in track earlier this season on Jan. 22 and again on Jan. 29. This fall, Scullion won the award on Sept. 4, Sept. 11 and Oct. 16 in cross country.

For the indoor track season, Scullion has season and team-best times of 2:19.16 in the 800 meters, 3:02.66 in the 1000-meter run, 10:29.70 in the 3000-meter run, 17:56.65 in the 5000-meter run and 5:03.24 in the 1-mile. Scullion and the Yellow Jacket men's and women's indoor track and field teams will be back in action this Friday, Feb. 23 when they travel to Ada, Ohio to run and the Annual Midwest Classic Meet at Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center at 6:00 p.m.
