BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College senior forward Thad Davis (Elyria/ Open Door), this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, has been named to the D3hoops.com internet Web site "Team of the Week". Last week in victories versus Case Western Reserve University (94-91) and Thiel College of Pennsylvania (86-82), Davis scored 66 points, including a career-high 37 at Thiel, grabbed 26 rebounds, blocked 12 shots and made six steals.
Against Case, Davis scored 29 points, had a season-high six rebounds, blocked five shots and made three steals. He canned eight-of-13 shots from the floor and made 13-of-17 foul shots. In the win against Thiel, Davis scored the career-high 37 points by canning 13-of-23 shots from the floor and 11-of-14 foul shots. He also grabbed 10 rebounds, made three steals and blocked a career-high seven shots.
Davis is a two-time All-OAC player, including being a first-team pick a year ago, who was named third-team All-Great Lakes Region last year by D3hoops.com and the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) and was tabbed this winter as a preseason All-American by seversal publications. He currently tops the Yellow Jackets in both scoring (21.2 points-per-game) as well as rebounding (11.8 rpg.), blocked shots (15) and steals (11).
The Yellow Jacket men will be back in action on Saturday, December 4, when they open 2004-2005 Ohio Athletic Conference play against OAC-rival Otterbein College at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea at 3:00 p.m. This will be a key early-season game as B-W was picked to win the OAC title by the OAC Coaches in its preseason poll and Otterbein was tabbed second.
Entering the Otterbein contest, Davis is 10th all-time on the B-W scoring list with 1,447 points and eighth in rebounding with 714.
