Baldwin Wallace University's Davis Brothers Honored by D III News
BEREA, OHIO -- Brothers Thad and Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Chrisatian School), a pair of outstanding men's basketball student-athletes at Baldwin Wallace University are being honored this week by the D III News weekly magazine and Internet Web Site. It is the end to an outstanding year for the Davis brothers.
Thad Davis, a junior forward, was honored as an honorable mention Division III All-American. Tori Davis, a freshman forward, was named to the 10-player All-Freshman team. The Davis brothers helped BW to compile an 18-8 overall and 13-5 OAC record.
Thad Davis was a first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection and was tabbed to the second-team All-Great Lakes Region team was the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) and was a third-team All-Great Lakes Region choice by the d3hoops.com Internet Web Site. He led BW in scoring with 19.0 points per game, led the OAC in rebounding with 10.4 rpg. and was second in the OAC and to Tori in blocked shots with 46. Thad Davis was also a second-team All-OAC pick as a sophomore. He ended his junior season with 1,341 career points, 653 rebounds and 130 blocked shots. He was named to the all-tournament team at both the Dickinson (Pa.) and College of Wooster tournaments this year and was a three-time recipient of the OAC Player of the Week Award.
Tori Davis was definitely one of the most dominant freshmen in Division III in 2003-2004. He averaged 14.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, led the OAC wsith 56 blocked shots and canned 57.6 percent of his field goal attempts en route to earning second-team All-OAC accolades. In addition, Tori Davis was the Most Valuable Defensive Player at the Wooster Tournament when he blocked 13 shots in two games and was a two-time recipient of the OAC Player of the Week Award.
