Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College junior men's basketball player Tori Davis (Elyria/ Open Door Christian School) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. It is the sixth time in Davis' career that he has been honored as a Player of the Week by the OAC, the third time this season and the second in a row.
Davis earned his latest honor for leading the Yellow Jackets to The College of Wooster E. M. "Mose" Hole Tournament championship with wins against second-ranked Wooster, 113-108 in double overtime, and 80-63 in the championship game versus Lycoming (Pa.) College. For the week, Davis scored 56 points, grabbed 24 rebounds and blocked five shots. He also canned 22-of-35 field goal attempts and 12 of 15 foul shots. He also was named as the Most Valuable Player in the tournament.
Against Wooster, Davis scored a career-high and tournament-record 44 points and set another tourney record by making 20 field goals and canning 20-of-29 field goal attempts. He also added a career-high 17 rebounds and blocked four shots. Davis followed that effort with 12 points and seven rebounds in limited playing time versus Lycoming. He was hampered by two early first half fouls.
Davis previously earned the OAC Player of the Week honor the Week of Nov. 21-27, 2005 and when the last OAC Weekly Release was published on Dec. 19.
During his career, Davis has scored 1,190 points and stands 17th on the all-time scoring list. He was a second-team All-OAC player as a freshman when he also was named to the d3hoops.com All-Freshman team. As a sophomore, Davis was a first-team All-OAC and second-team All-Great Lakes Region pick.
Davis and the Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 4 when they travel to Alliance, Ohio to play OAC rival Mount Union College at 7:30 p.m.
