Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Track and Field Team Places Second

and the Men's Team Places Seventh at the OAC Relay Meet

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's track and field team placed second and the men's team placed seventh at the Ohio Athletic Conference Relay Meet held on the Harrison Dillard Track in The Lou Higgins Center in Berea, Ohio.  It was the second indoor meet of the season for both the Yellow Jacket men and women.

The women's team scored 107 points and placed second behind team champion Ohio Northern University and just missed winning the title by three points.  The men's team scored 57 points.

The highlight of the meet for the women's team was when the distance medley relay team of senior Megan Via (Brookville), sophomore Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg), freshman D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) and sophomore Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich./ East Kentwood) captured first place, set a meet record and qualified for the 2007 NCAA Division III INdoor National Championship Meet in March with a time of 12:11.19. The 3000-meter relay duo of Scullion and Via also finished first and set an OAC Relay Meet-record with a combined time of 21:18.70. Scullion individually wo the event and Via placed second. In addition, the triple jump relay team of junior Courtney Becket (Monaca, Pa./ Hopewell) and freshman Jaclyn Muenchow (Worthington/ Kilbourne) finished first with a combined mark of 20.38 meters. Beckett individually won the event with a jump of 34-feet and six and one-half inches.

For the men, the long jump relay duo of freshman Steve Price (North Olmsted) and sophomore Mike Glynn (Columbia Station/ Columbia) was the the top relay group and placed third with a combined mark of 12.81 meters. Individually, Price was third with a leap of 21' 4.75".  The shot put relay duo of freshman Patrick Greg and freshman Corey Bukovitz (Orrville) placed fourth with a combined mark of 26.61 meters. Individually in the pole vault, senior Steve Johnson (Canton/ Central Catholic) was third with a vault of 14' 5.25".

The Yellow Jackets will complete next on Friday, February 2 at the Case Invitational Meet beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Veale Center in University Circle. On Saturday, Feb. 3, select team members will run at the University of Akron Open Meet at 11:00 a.m. The next home meet is on FRiday, Feb. 9 when B-W hosts the Mid-February Meet in Berea at 4:15 p.m.
