BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's indoor track and field teams kicked off the 2003 season on Friday (Jan. 24) with the annual unscored Mid-January Meet in the B-W Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track in Berea.
The Yellow Jacket men and women had a successful night as four individuals and three relay teams claimed victory.
Individually for the women, senior Tara Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield/ Pymatuning Valley) won the 500 meter dash in 1:22.97 and junior Stacey Havaich (Austintown Fitch) won the 1000 meter run in 3:07.12. In addition the 4 x 200 meter relay team of Mary LaSalvia (North Ridgeville), Jayna Rasmussen (Westlake/ Lutheran West), Elizabeth Redd (Canton GlenOak) and Katrina Iben (Fredericktown) won in 1:53.43 and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Gruskiewicz, Havaich, Tara Perry (Brook Park/ Berea) and Courtney Stelzer (Westerville/ Sunbury Big Walnut) won in 4:16.54.
Individually for the men, senior Aaron Krouse (North Olmsted) won the 300 meter dash in 36.86 and junior Scott Roberts (Sandusky Perkins) won the 500 meter dash in 1:09.95. In addition, the 4 x 200 meter relay team of Ian Gibson (Painesville Harvey), Jeff Farman (Ashtabula Lakeside), Brandon Wells (Euclid) and Eric Schmuhl (Medina Senior) won in 1:33.30.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action this Friday when they host the annual Paul "Sparky" Adams Invitational Meet in Berea at 5:45 p.m.
