BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's track and field team finished second and the men's team finished third at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Harrison Dillard Track in Berea, Ohio. The women finished with 156.5 points and could not catch up to Otterbein who finished with 164.5 points. The men tallied 85.5 points and finished behind Mount Union (98 points) and Otterbein (154 points). Both men's and women's teams for Otterbein College won the OAC Championship titles.
For the Yellow Jackets, junior Stacey Havaich (Austintown Fitch High School), took first place in the 800 meter run in 2:21.21. Senior All-OAC Jessica Textoris (Akron/ Medina Highland H.S.) took first place in the 5000 meter run in 18:04.08. Senior Lynn Katanik (Parma/Padua H.S.) finished second behind Textoris with a time of 18:11.77. Katanik also took second place in the 1500 meter run in 4:51.95. She was edged out by Kim Allen of Otterbein who finished just ahead of her in 4:51.60.
For the men, junior Alex Johnson (Olmsted Falls H.S.), finished second in the shot put with a distance of 49'9". Senior Dash McNeal (Crooksville) finished third in the high jump with a height of 6'6.25" and senior Jeff Farman (Ashtabula/Lakeside) finished in third place in the 400 meter dash in 50.91.
The Yellow Jacket men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action on Friday, March 7 when they host the B-W Qualifer at the Harrison Dillard Track. Action will begin at 10:00 a.m.on Friday morning.
