BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's track and field team is second, and the men's team is third after Day One of the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Harrison Dillard Track in Berea, Ohio. The women currently have 18.75 points and trail Otterbein College by four points. The men have 16 points and trail Ohio Northern University by 10 points heading into the second day.
For the Yellow Jackets, seniors Lynn Katanik (Parma Padua High School) and Tara Gruskiewicz (Parma Padua H.S.), and juniors Jennifer Southall (Willoughby South H.S.), and Stacey Havaich (Austintown Fitch H.S.) took first place in the women's 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:23.31, beating Otterbein College. Gruskiewicz took second place in the preliminaries of the 500 meter run in a tough battle with Jackie Dight of Ohio Northern.
The top men's performance of the day was turned in by senior Dash McNeil (Crooksville H.S.). McNeil took fourth place in the triple jump with a jump of 43 feet, one and one half inches.
The Yellow Jacket men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday, March 1 for Day Two of the 2003 Ohio Athletic Conference Track & Field Championship Meet in the B-W Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track. Action will begin at 10:00 a.m.on Saturday morning.
