BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's indoor track and field teams had four individual winners and four winning relay teams at the annual unscored Case Western Reserve University Invitational Meet at the Veale Center and on the Bill Sudeck Track in University Circle on Friday,February 7.
Individually for the Yellow Jacket women, senior Lynn Katanik (Parma Padua High School) won the 1500 meter run in 4:52.00 and freshman Amy Mauceri (Solon H.S.) won the shot put with throw of 37-feet and one-half inch. In addition, the distance medley relay team captured a title in 13:04.18. Team members include Lisa Bartkiewicz (Berea), Elizabeth Redd (Canton GlenOak), Jen Southall (Willoughby South), and Katanik.
Individually for the men, senior Josh Lambert (Huron/ Edison H.S.) won the 55 meter dash in 6.64 seconds and junior Mike Roberts (Sandusky Perkins H.S.) won the 55 meter hurdles in 8.14 seconds. In addition, the 4 x 200 meter, the 4 x 400 meter and the distance medley relay teams all captured crowns. Members of the 4 x 200 meter team are Mike Morningstar (Canton Central Catholic), Josh Lambert (Huron Edison), Eric Schmuhl (Medina Senior), and Brandon Wells (Euclid). The 4 x 400 team members included Nick Fedor (Clinton/ Manchester), Jeff Farman (Ashtabula Senior), Wells and Schmuhl.
Six additional Yellow Jackets will be back in action today when they travel to Kent State University to compete in an open meet. The women's competitors are seniors Jessica Textoris (Akron/ Medina Highland H.S.), Nicole Drouhard (Canfield/ Austintown Fitch H.S.) and Tara Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield/ Pymatuning Valley H.S.) and junior Stacey Havaich (Austintown Fitch H.S.). The men's competitors are junior shot putter Alex Johnson (Berea/ Olmsted Falls H.S.) and Mike Roberts.
The entire Yellow Jacket men's and women's team will be back in action next Friday, February 14, when they host the annual Mid-February Meet at the B-W Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track at 5:45 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 15, another select group of B-W competitors will travel to the All-Ohio Indoor Collegiate Championship Meet at the University of Findlay.
