BEREA, OHIO -- Both the Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's indoor track and field teams finished second at the annual Paul "Sparky" Adams Invitational Meet in the B-W Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track in Berea on Friday, January 31.
The Yellow Jacket men scored 141 points and were second of five schools. The women scored 169 points and were also second of five teams. Otterbein College won both team titles.
Individually for the women, junior Stacey Havaich (Austintown Fitch) won both the 800 and 1500 meter runs and was joined as a winner by senior Jessica Textoris (Akron/ Medina Highland) in the 5000 meter run. Havaich won the 800 meter run in 2:27.82 and the 1500 in 4:55.28. Textoris captured the 5000 meters in 18:24.82 overall. In addition, the 4 x 200 meter relay team of senior Mary LaSalvia (North Ridgeville), sophomore Jayna Rasmussen (Westlake/ Lutheran West) and freshmen Elizabeth Redd (Canton GlenOak) and Lindsay Booth won in 1:51.38.
Individually for the men, senior Dash McNeal (Crooksville) won both the high and triple jumps and junior Alex Johnson (Berea/ Olmsted Falls) won the shot put. McNeal won the high jump with a leap of six-feet and four inches and the triple jump with a leap of 41' 4.5". Johnson won the shot put with a career-best indoor throw of 51' 0.5".
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action next Friday, February 7, when they travel to University Circle to compete at a meet at Case Western Reserve University at 6:00 p.m. in the Veale Center.
