BEREA, OHIO -- A group of six Baldwin-Wallace College men's indoor track competitors traveled to Ada and Ohio Northern University last Friday (Jan. 17) and competed at the weekly ONU Friday Night Series Meet. Although just six competitors traveled, the Yellow Jackets placed fifth of nine teams with 51 points.
Leading the way were individuals winners in sophomore Kevin English (Berea) and senior Dash McNeal (Crooksville). English won the long jump with a leap of 20-feet and seven and one-quarter inches (20' 7.25"), was second in the high jump at 5' 11.25" and ran in the 300 meter dash and finished with a time of 39.13 seconds. McNeal won the high jump with a leap of 6' 1.25" and was third in the triple jump with a jump of 39' 5.75".
In addition to the winning duo, seniors Josh Lambert (Huron/ Edison), Aaron Krouse (North Olmsted) and Brad Geletka (Kirtland) and junior Mike Roberts (Sandusky Perkins) also competed. Lambert placed sixth in the 55 meter dash in 6.84 seconds and competed in the long jump with a leap of 19' 5.5". Krouse was third in the 300 meter dash in 36.80 seconds and sixth in the 400 meter dash in 52.50 seconds. Geletka was fourth in the 1500 meter run in 4:15.50 and sixth in the 1000 meter run in 2:44.94. Roberts placed fifth in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.24 seconds and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19' 9.75" and competed in the 300 meter dash with a time of 38.32 seconds. The Yellow Jackets will officially open the 2003 indoor season this Friday, January 24, with the annual Mid-January Meet in the B-W Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track. The meet will begin at 5:45 p.m. It will be the first of six home indoor meets at B-W this winter and the regular season culminates with B-W hosting the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1.
