Indoor Track and Field

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's indoor track and field teams both placed second of five teams at the annual Mid-February Meet at the B-W Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track on Friday (February 14). In addition, today (Saturday, Feb. 15), a select group of B-W competitors will travel to Findlay and the University of Findlay to compete at the annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship Meet.

The Yellow Jacket men had four individual winners and totalled 149 points. The B-W women had one individual champion and totalled 133.83 points. Allegheny (Pa.) College won both team titles. This was the fourth week of indoor competition for B-W.

Individually for the Yellow Jacket men, freshman Brandon Wells (Euclid) led the way as he won the 300 meter dash in 36.59 seconds and the 400 meter dash in 51.89 seconds. In the 300 dash, Wells led a one-through-eight Yellow Jacket finish. Wells was followed by senior Nick Fedor (Clinton/ Manchester), senior Jeff Farman (Ashtabula/ Senior), junior Mike Roberts (Sandusky Perkins), sophomore Eric Schmuhl (Medina Senior), freshman Mike Morningstar (Canton Central Catholic), senior Josh Lambert (Milan Edison) and sophomore Ian Gibson (Painesville Harvey). Lambert also won the long jump with a leap of 21-feet and two and one-half inches, and senior Dash McNeal (Crooksville) won the high jump with a leap of 6'4". For the women, junior Nikki Bell (McDonald) won the 300 meter dash in 43.51 seconds.

The entire Yellow Jacket men's and women's team will be back in action next Friday, February 21, when they host the annual Greater Cleveland College Championship Meet at the B-W Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track at 5:45 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 22, another select group of B-W competitors will travel to Eastern Michigan University for an open meet.
