BW Women Finish Second and Men Finish Fourth at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships

Day Two Men's Results | Day Two Women's Results

– The Baldwin Wallace University women’s indoor track and field team finished in second place and the men finished fourth at the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships inside the Clements Recreation Center on the campus of Otterbein University. In addition, the top three relay teams and individuals in each event earn All-OAC honors for the 2012 season.

The Yellow Jacket women finished second in the women’s team standings with a total score of 117.50 points as they only fell to Mount Union who finished first scoring 154.50 points. For the men, BW came in fourth in the Men’s team standings with a score of 87 points. Ohio Northern finished in first for the men’s team standings with 152 points.

On day two for the women in field events, senior Leslie Pernell (Springfield/Catholic Central), came in first place in the shot put with a throw of 13.10 meters. Junior teammate Cristina Perrine (Middleburg Heights/Midpark) finished third with a mark of 12.62 meters. Also sophomore Victora Brown (Berlin Center/Western Reserve) placed second in the high jump clearing 1.63 meters.

In the running events, junior Kaylan Lemon (Canton/Massillon Perry) finished second in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash as she crossed the finish line with times of 7.87 seconds and 25.96 seconds respectively. Sophomore Nicole Smith (Geneva) placed second in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:20.08.  In the 800-meter dash, sophomore Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) placed second in a time of 2:19.36. A team comprised of senior Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield/Medina Buckeye), juniors Brittney Sterling (Lima), Lemon, and Hradisky came in third in the 4x400-meter relay crossing the finish line in a time of 4:06.77.

On day two for the men in field events, sophomore Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) came in second in the high jump, clearing 2.01 meters and junior Zach Marinucci (Brunswick) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 16.29 meters.

In the running events, a team comprised of sophomores Shawn Cordes (Litchfield/Medina Buckeye), Josiah Holt (Elyria/Grafton Midview) and seniors Mike Smith (Wintersville/Indian Creek), Daniel Sloat (Medina) placed second in the 4x200-meter relay crossing the finish line in a time of 1:30.58. Junior Ken Janosko (Mentor) finished second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:05.55.

Both teams will be competing again next Saturday March 3, 2012, when they travel to compete in the University of Mount Union Last Chance Meet in Alliance.

The NCAA Division III National Championships will be held the following weekend March 9-10, 2012 at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
