Women Win Sparky Adams Invite; Men Finish Fifth

BEREA, OHIO -- The women won for the second consecutive week as they won the annual Sparky Adams Invitational and the men finished fifth.

In the 55-meter dash the women took the top three places behind Mary Griglak's (Cleveland/Lutheran West) 7.61, Barbie Yeazell's (Enon/Greenon) 7.80, and Jayna Rasmussen (Westlake/Lutheran West).  In the 1500-meter run B-W captured first and second place behind Stacey Havaich's (Austintown/Fitch) 4:55 and Jennifer Southall's (Willoughby/South) 4:59. Rasmussen and Griglak, along with Lizz Redd (North Canton/Glen Oak) and Rhiannon Regal (Painesville/Harvey) won the women's 4x200-meter relay with a 1:51. Southall also finished first in the 5000-meter run in a time 18:46 and Amren Fraser (Brook Park/Midpark) won the women's high jump with a jump of 5'2".

For the men, the best finish was turned in by Nile Smith (Killbuck/Millersburg West Holmes) finished second in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 52.48.

Select members of the Yellow Jacket women's and men's teams will compete in the Division III All-Ohio Meet being held at Ohio Northern tomorrow, which will start at 11 a.m.  All the members of both teams will be in action next Friday February 20 when they host their final indoor meet of the season, the Greater Cleveland Colleges Meet, which begins at 4:30 p.m.
