Yellow Jacket Indoor Track Teams End Regular Season by Competing at the

ONU Friday Night Series Meet in Ada

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's indoor track and field teams ended the 2004 regular season last night (Friday, Feb. 27) by competing at the scored Ohio Northern University Friday Night Series Meet at the ONU Sports Center in Ada. Both teams placed second. The men were second of nine teams and the women second of five schools.

Individually for the men, freshman Sean Johnson (Alliance/ Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas) won the 500 meter dash in 1:08.39 and senior Alex Johnson won the shot put with a throw of 51-feet and three and three-quarters inches. Johnson is undefeated against Division III competition this winter and is B-W's lone NCAA Division III national qualifier (52'11" at last Friday's Greater Cleveland College Indoor Championship Meet which was won by B-W).

For the women, freshman Rihanna Knotts (Middletown Madison) won the 800 meter run in 2:22.19, freshman Megan Via (Brookville) won the 1000 meter run in 3:10.77 and senior All-American steeplechaser Jen Southall (Willoughby South) won the 1500 meter run in 4:56.33.

The Yellow Jackets will next be in action on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6 when they travel to Bexley, Ohio and Capital University to compete at the 2004 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet at the Capital Center. Action begins on Friday (March 5) at 3:00 p.m. and continues again on Saturday (March 6) at 10:00 a.m.

Following the OAC Championship Meet, the Yellow Jacket men and womem head south to train and compete for a week in the Sunshine State of Florida. B-W will compete at the annual Florida State Eraly Bird Meet on Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13. The first northern outdoor meet is scheduled for March 27 at Muskingum College.
