Yellow Jacket Indoor Track Season Begins Tonight With the Mid-January Meet
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's indoor track and field teams will begin the 2004 season tonight (January 23) by hosting the unscored and annual Mid-January Meet in the BW Recreation Center and on the Harrison Dillard Track. It is the first of four home meets that the Yellow jackets host this winter.
The meet begins with the men's and women's weight throw at 4:15 p.m. and concludes with the 4 x 400 meter relay at 10:30 p.m. Running events begin at 6:15 p.m. with the preliminary heats in the 55 meter dash. Fans of track and field can access results from tonight's meet via the BW Internet Web Site at www.bw.edu/athletics. The results will be posted on the site 20 minutes following the conclusion of he final event.
The BW men will be led in 2004 by senior shot putter Alex Johnson (Berea/ Olmsted Falls), junior hurdler Eric Schmuhl (Medina Senior) and senior hurdler Mike Roberts (Sandusky Perkins).
The BW women will be led by senior distance ace and All-American steeplechaser Jen Southall (Willoughby South), sophomore sprinter Liz Redd (Canton/Glen Oak), senior 800 through 1500 meter ace Stacey Havaich (Austintown Fitch) and junior sprinter Jayna Rasmussen (Westlake/ Lutheran West).
In addition to hosting the Mid-January Meet tonight, BW will also host the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Relay Meet on Saturday, January 31, the annual "Sparky" Adams Invitational on February 13 and the annual Greater Cleveland College Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet on Feb. 20.
