B-W Heptathlete Brandon Eddy Named OAC Field Event Athlete of the Week

BEREA, OHIO --
 Baldwin Wallace College sophomore track standout Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) was named today (Monday, February 6, 2012) as Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track Field Event Athlete of the Week. This is the second time in three weeks that he has earned that honor.

Eddy earned his award for his efforts at the University of Akron Multi-Event Meet on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4 in Akron. In that meet, he compiled the best score in Division III this season for the 7-event heptathlon when he accumulated a career-best 5,065 points and had five career-best performances for the seven events. Eddy’s 5,065-point total is 51 more than his next nearest Div. III national meet competitor.


Eddy ran the 60-meter dash in a career-best 7.44 seconds, the 60-meter high hurdles in a career-best 8.62 seconds and the 1000 meters in a career-best 2:52.42. He also high jumped 6’4”, pole vaulted 15’9”, threw the shot put a career-best 35’9.5” and long jumped a career-best 20’4.5”.


Earlier this season, Eddy earned OAC Track Athlete of the Week honors when he led the Yellow Jackets to the team title at the Annual Mid-January Meet in Berea. At that meet, he won the pole vault with a meet and school indoor-record vault of 16-feet, won the high jump with a leap of 6’2” and won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.97 seconds.


This Friday, Eddy and his teammates will host the Annual Mid-February Meet on the Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 5:00 p.m.
