Baldwin-Wallace Senior Kim Chinn Named OAC Track Runner of the Week
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College senior Division III cross country and track All-American Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) is this week’s Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week. This is the fifth time in her career that Chinn has been an OAC Runner of the Week.
Chinn earned her fifth OAC honor for her efforts in leading the Yellow Jackets to last Saturday’s OAC Relay Meet title at Capital. To date, Chinn has led B-W (16-0 overall) to meet titles at the B-W Mid-January Meet (Jan. 21 in Berea) and at the OAC Relay Meet. Last Saturday, Chinn won the 3,000-meter run in 10:25.58 (more than 23 seconds her career-best) and led the 4x800-meter relay team to a meet title and anchored the second place distance medley relay squad.
Chinn, a mass communication major who carries a 3.75 grade point average in the classroom, has won multiple All-OAC, Academic All-OAC and Capital One Academic All-District IV honors as well as All-OAC and All-Great Lakes Region accolaces. In addition, Chinn placed 13th at this fall’s NCAA Division III National Track & Field Championship Meet to earn All-America accolades in cross country, and last spring was the Div. III national runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase outdoors.
This Saturday, Chinn at the Yellow Jacket men and women travel to Alliance to compete at the University of Mount Union Jim Wuske Invitational Meet at 11:00 a.m. The next home B-W meet is on Friday, Feb. 11 when it hosts the annual Mid-January Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea. Field events begin at 4:15 p.m. And running events start at 5:30 p.m. B-W also is the host site of the 2011 OAC Indoor Championship Meet on Feb. 25-26.
