B-W: B-W’s Patrick and Phipps Named OAC Co-Field Athletes of the Week

BEREA, OHIO – Two Baldwin-Wallace College throwers, senior Greg Patrick (Collins/Western Reserve) and junior Kevin Phipps (Reynoldsburg/Watkins Memorial), have been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Co-Indoor Field Athletes of the Week. The duo combined to set two OAC Relay Meet records on Saturday (January 30, 2010).

Patrick and Phipps won the OAC shot put relay with a meet-record distance of 101 feet, 4.25 inches. Patrick placed first at 51’3” and Phipps was second at 50’1.25”. The pair also won the weight throw with a record distance of 108’7”. Phipps was first at 55’11.75” and Patrick was second at 52’7.50”.

Each earned indoor All-OAC honors last season and have provisionally qualified for this year’s Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championship meet – Phipps in the weight throw and Patrick in the shot put. Both earned All-America honors at last year’s outdoor National Championship meet.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Friday, February 5 at the Oberlin College Meet at 5:30 p.m. in Oberlin. B-W also hosts the third of its four indoor meets this season, the Greater Cleveland College Championships, on Friday, February 12.
