BEREA, OHIO -- Three Baldwin-Wallace College women's basketball players have been named All-Ohio Athletic Conference. Headlining the list is senior guard Sarah Gordon (Wooster Senior) who was named to the first-team.
For Gordon, the first-team All-OAC honor is another highlight in one of the most outstanding careers of a student-athlete in Yellow Jacket athletic annals. Joining Gordon on the All-OAC honor squad are senior forward Holly Koepp (Lorain Catholic) on the second-team and senior guard Natalie Winkelfoos (Bucyrus) as an honorable mention choice. The trio have helped the Yellow Jacket women post a 23-3 overall record prior to playing Heidelberg today (February 28) in the OAC Final Four in Berea. In addition, B-W enters today's game ranked fourth in the Great Lakes Region, 14th nationally in the USA Today/ WBCA poll and 15th in the d3hoops.com Internet Web site poll. Also, the trio have helped lead B-W to post a 98-14 record the past four years, to four straight 20-win seasons, two OAC regular season and two OAC Tournament titles and two appearances in the NCAA Division III “Elite Eight”.
Gordon, who is also a first-team Academic All-OAC and first-team Verizon Academic All-District IV choice, was named All-OAC for the second straight year in basketball. She tops the Yellow Jackets in scoring at 12.5 points per game and in three-pointers with 41 and blocked shots with 31. She also shoots a 54.4 percent from the floor, 52.6 percent from three-point range and 71 percent from the foul line. For her career, Gordon has scored 853 career points. Through her Verizon honor, Gordon now qualifies for the national Verizon Academic All-America ballot. She carries a 3.809 grade point average in psychology and business administration and intends on attending graduate school next year. Gordon is a Dean’s List student, a member of Athletes in Action and SAAC and is involved in a number of academic honoraries.
In addition to her basketball exploits, Gordon is a two-time All-OAC and two-time Verizon Academic All-District IV player in volleyball who was also a first-team Academic All-OAC choice this fall. In her volleyball career, Gordon had more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 defensive digs and helped B-W to an 81-23, its first-ever OAC regular season title, its first-ever OAC Tournament title and an NCAA tourney berth.
Koepp is an early childhood education major who carries a 3.7 grade point average. Her second-team All-OAC award marks the third time that she has been named All-OAC, including as a first-team choice a year ago. Earlier this week, Koepp was named as a first-team Academic All-OAC player. She is second on the team in scoring at 11.8 ppg., first in rebounding at 7.9 rpg. and cans 79 percent of her foul shots. She is a Dean's List student, a member of the Alpha Lambda Academic Honor Society and one of the best players ever to wear the Brown & Gold at B-W. For her career, Koepp has scored 1,094 career points to rank seventh in scoring and has grabbed 723 career rebounds to rank fifth all-time in that catagory. She was the Most Valuable Player of this year's Surf & Slam Tournament in San Diego, California, is a four-time all-tourney pick during her career.
Winkelfoos, a communications major, is an All-OAC pick for the second straight year. She is third on the team in scoring at 10.3 ppg., first with 49 steals and second with 37 three-pointers and 79 assists. She also shoots 51.3 percent from the floor, 52.9 percent from "three-point land" and 73 percent from the foul line. During her career, Winkelfoos has scored 916 career points. She is a Dean's List student, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of other campus groups.
