BEREA, OHIO -- On Tuesday night, when the Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team hosts Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University in a key OAC game at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea, the College will honor senior standouts Kate Kost (Fairview Park High School), Sarah Gordon (Wooster Senior High School) and Lauren Harris (New Philadelphia High School) for their outstanding contributions to the program.
The Yellow Jackets enter the match with a 24-4 overall and 6-1 OAC record and are ranked 13th nationally in NCAA Division III. It is the highest that the B-W program has ever been ranked, and is two spots better than last week's #15 ranking by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Capital comes into the match with an outstanding 27-7 overall record and is also 6-1 in the OAC. For all intents and purposes, this game will be for second place and the number two seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament (next week).

All three graduating seniors have helped to make the B-W volleyball program one of the best in the Ohio Athletic Conference, NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region and in the nation. During her four years on the Yellow Jacket varsity, Kate Kost has been a part of 100 victories, B-W's first-ever OAC Tournament title, its first-ever OAC regular season co-title, a berth in the 2000 NCAA National Tournament and its highest national ranking in school history.
Individually, Kate has been a part of the "heart and soul" of the defense and has been a team captain the past two years. She owns both the single-season school-record for defensive digs with 575 entering tonight and previously held the mark with 572 in 2000. She also owns the career mark with 1989 prior to tonight and is just 58 shy of being theall-time OAC leader in that category. Each of the past two years, Kate was named to the Marcia French all-tournament team.Kate is a business administration and sport management major who hopes to pursue a career in professional sports public relations. She is also a fine student who carries a 2.98 grade point average. She is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Lauren Harris is a four-year member of the Yellow Jacket program who has been making an impact at the varsity level the past two years. After playing on the junior varsity team as a freshman and sophomore, Lauren earned a varsity letter a year ago. This season, she is having her best season as a collegian with 52 kills, 45 blocks, 28 digs and 14 set assists. The business administration and computer information systems major plans to work for a computer firm following graduation.

In addition, no program can be successful without hard work behind the scenes. Seniors Jen Rabatin (Fairview Park) and Sarah Reisner (Medina) have made a valuable contribution to this year's success that cannot bematched in terms of wins and losses.
Jen Rabatin, a early childhood education major, played three years of volleyball and earned three varsity letters as a key defensive specialist. This year she served as a student assistant coach. During her playing career, she was twice named as B-W's Most Inspirational Player Award winner. She ended her career with 470 career digs. In the classroom, Jen carries a 3.3 grade point averge and plans to go into educational counseling.

Sarah Reisner is responsible for all management aspects in the program, including statistics. A middle childhood education major, Reisner carries a 3.9 grade point average, is a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda, Dayton C. Miller and Kappa Epsilon Mu honoraries. A former two-year varsity soccer player and letter winner at B-W who played defense, Reisner plans to teach mathematics and English and coach basketball.
