BEREA, OHIO -- Three Baldwin-Wallace College fall sport student-athletes have been chosen as Ohio Athletic Conference players of the week. They are senior wide receiver Dave LaBahn (Strongsville High School) as the football Offensive Player of the Week, senior defensive end Brady Myers (Wellington H.S.) as the football Defensive Player of the Week and junior middle hitter Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/ South Central H.S.) as the volleyball Player of the Week.
LaBahn earned his honor for his single-game record-tying four-touchdown performance in a 48-41 Homecoming win versus Ohio Northern University last Saturday at The George Finnie Stadium. For the game, LaBahn caught six passes for a career-high 129 yards and TD catches of 60, 10 and two nine-yarders. For the season, LaBahn is B-W's leading receiver with 24 catches for 341 yards and the four TD. In the last three weeks, LaBahn has caught 20 passes.
Myers had nine total tackles and scored two defensive touchdowns in the win versus ONU. He had eight solo tackles, including three tackles for losses and a quarterback sack. Myers scored his first TD when he recovered a Polar Bear fumble in the endzone in the first quarter, and his second when he picked off an ONU pass in the fourth quarter and returned it 14 yards to paydirt. Overall in 2002, Myers is tied for sixth in total tackles with 20.
Palmer received her honor for leading the 18th-ranked Yellow Jackets to a 5-0 record last week, including a 4-0 mark at the title of the National Invitational Tournament at Wittenberg University. For the week, Palmer had 67 kills, 24 blocks, 22 digs, and eight service aces and hit .292 overall. For the seson, Palmer tops the Yellow Jackets with 348 kills and a .323 hitting percentage and is second with 128 total blocks.
