Magyar is a political science and business major who plans on attending law school and becoming an attorney.  He has earned varsity letters in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and wrestling.

In cross country, Magyar is a three-year letterman and one of the top runners on the team. This past fall, he placed 23rd at the 2002 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet and 87th at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Meet. In track, Magyar was a two-time All-OAC performer in outdoor track. He finished fourth at the OAC Championships in the 5,000 meter run in 15:47.96 and fifth in the 10,000 meter run in 33:32.31. He did not run track last winter (he wrestled) or last spring. He is expected to compete both indoors this winter and outdoors this spring. As a wrestler in 2001-2002, Magyar competed at 149 pounds and won 11 matches and led the team with five pins.

Magyar is involved in many organizations and leadership positions at B-W.  He has been involved with his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega.  He has put in numerous hours of philanthropy, consisting of programs such as: Lounging for Life, assiting youths at Browns games with the Dreamseats Organization and working at the "Boo at the Zoo".  Magyar's efforts have helped his fraternity raise more than $1,000 for their philanthropy program. Additionally, he is the ATO Historian, the newly elected President of Interfraternity Council (IFC) and is a member of the Greek Community Council.

Magyar is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), on the Outstanding Senior Award committee, and serves as a Resident Assistant in Constitution Hall.

"Bob Magyar is a leader in the classroom, on campus with his fraternity and as an RA and on the athletic fields," said B-W Sports Information Director Kevin Ruple. "He interacts well with his students as an RA, and is a positive role model for the other athletes. He sets a strong standard for himself and for others. He has proven himself worthy of receiving the STARR of the Month Award. He is a great role model for the balanced student."

Magyar is the son of Larry and Tina of Lyndhurst.

The STARR of the Month program stands for Student-athletes Taking Active Responsible Roles.  The program was developed in conjunction with two NCAA-related programs: CHAMPS/Life Skills and the STARR pilot of which B-W is one of eight D-III grant recipients.

The STARR of the Month Program recognizes student-athletes who are showing a great balance between athletic, academic, personal, service, leadership and other involvement. The CHAMPS/Life Skills program strives to focus on positive role-modeling among B-W student-athletes. Recipients must carry a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average, be in at least their second year of competition and make positive contributions to the Campus and surrounding communities.
