Dave LaBahn #10 and Dave Ehrman |
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College football wide recievers Dave LaBahn and Dave Ehrman have a number of commonalities.
First, they both have the same first name. Secondly, both attended Strongsville High School. Third, both played wideout. Fourth, each one caught 30 or more passes in 2001. Fifth, both are business administration majors with a 3.1 or better grade point average. And finally, both LaBahn and Ehrman have a burning desire to win an Ohio Athletic Conference football title.
LaBahn, a senior business major, will be playing a key role in theYellow Jacket offense for the third straight year. Last fall, he caught a career-high 30 passes for 518 yards and scored six touchdowns. For his career, LaBahn has 10 TD catches.
"Dave LaBahn is a solid receiver who possesses good hands," said first-year Head Coach John Snell. "He had his best season a year ago because he worked extremely hard in the offseason to become a better receiver."
"Dave is also a solid student," said Snell. "We appreciate his efforts both in the classroom and on the football field. We are looking forward to Dave having a great senior season.”
Ehrman burst onto the scene a year ago as a freshman. He made the most of his early opportunity and set a frosh record with 32 catches for 398 yards with three TDs. This year, Snell is hoping Ehrman can continue his growth.

Dave Labahn |
Both young men played wide receiver at nearby Strongsville H.S. in careers that were seperated by two years. While Ehrman knew of LaBahn, LaBahn just knew Ehrman was on the J.V. team.
"It caught me completely by surprise," said LaBahn, whose brother Dan ‘98, played offensive guard for the Yellow Jackets. "He moved up to the varsity the year after I graduated, so I never really got to know him or see him play in high school."
"Dave (Ehrman) really had an outstanding freshman year," said LaBahn. "He runs very disciplined pass routes and catches almost everything thrown to him, especially the tough passes across the middle of the field. Because he can make the tough catches across the middle, that opens up the long pass for me. We compliment each other as receivers."

Dave Ehrman |
"It really impressed me to watch how hard Dave (LaBahn) works in practice," said Ehrman. "He is a good role model."
What does junior quarterback Dan Larlhham think of the Strongsville duo?
"Both Dave LaBahn and Dave Ehrman are solid receivers and add diversity to our offense," said Larlham, who threw nine of his career-high 17 TD passes to the duo in 2001. "They are different receivers, but both know what we are trying to accomplish on offense. Dave LaBahn is a big-play receiver. Dave Ehrman is all business and runs disciplined routes. They give us a double threat."
So what are the Dave’s goals in 2002?
"I want to win an OAC title," says LaBahn.. "I want to win an OAC title," says Ehrman. And the similarities continue.
