BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College senior guard Sarah Gordon has been named as this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts in an 85-84 win against Wilmington College last Saturday in Berea.
Gordon, a psychology major who carries a 3.8 grade point average, canned six of six three-point field goals and scored a team-high 22 points as the sixth-ranked Yellow Jackets beat the 16th-ranked Quakers. Overall, Gordon made eight of 10 shots from the floor, grabbed four rebounds, passed for two assists and blocked three shots.
After six games, Gordon tops the Yellow Jackets in scoring average at 11.7 points per game. She is also shooting 63.2 percent from the floor (24 of 38), 64.7 percent from thre-point range (11 of 17) and 78.6 percent from the foul line (11 of 14). Her 11 treys and eight blocked shots also lead the team.
A year ago, Gordon earned honorable mention All-OAC accolades in basketball. In addition, this fall, Gordon was a second-team All-OAC selection in volleyball for the second straight year, earned first-team Academic All-OAC honors and was named to the Verizon Academic All-District IV squad for the second time. She is just one of six B-W volleyball players in school history to have more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 defensive digs in her career.
In three years of voleyball, Gordon helped B-W compile an 81-23 record and in three plus years in basketball, B-W is 81-12 on the basketball court. Combined that's 162 wins.
This week, the B-W women will play at Mount Union College in Alliance on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and then return home and face Marietta College in Berea on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
