John Snell |
Baldwin-Wallace College graduate John Snell completed his sixth season as the Head Coach of the Yellow Jackets in the fall of 2007 and had his fifth winning season. Snell led the Yellow Jacket football program back to the NCAA Division III National Playoffs in 2003, and his goal is to have B-W in the playoffs every year.
"We will work hard to help keep the B-W program one of the best in Division III," said Snell, who has an outstanding 41-21 record after six seasons. "Our goal is to win the OAC title and win the NCAA Division III national title. Both our players and coaching staff are dedicated and committed to making it happen.
"I have a responsibility to keep strong the tradition of excellence of our football program," said Snell. "We are all committed to continuing that tradition of excellence and look forward to the challenges ahead."
Snell also finished his 13th season at his alma mater this fall. He has previously served as an assistant coach in charge of quarterbacks and recruiting and was the Yellow Jacket offensive coordinator for five years. In the spring of 2001, Snell was elevated to assistant head coach and offensive coordinator.
Snell was hand-picked to take over the Yellow Jacket program by former Head Coach and 1965 B-W graduate Bob Packard. Packard, who ended his career as the winningest coach in B-W history, learned his trade from College Football Hall of Famer Lee Tressel.
In his first season as the head coach of the Yellow Jackets, Snell led his team to an impressive 8-2 overall record and a ranking both in the North Region and national Division III polls. For his efforts, he was selected as the OAC Co-Coach of the Year by his peers.
In the Fall of 2003, Snell's program went two steps further. He led the Yellow Jackets to a 10-2 overall record and his team received B-W's first NCAA Division III Playoff berth since 1991 and won its first playoff game since 1978. In 2006, B-W had a fine, 7-3 record and Snell earned his second OAC C-Coach of the Year honor.
Prior to returning to his alma mater, Snell coached at the University of Rochester (1987-88 and again from 1992-94), at Rutgers University (1988-90) and the University of Buffalo (1990-92). Snell is a native of Albion, New York and graduated from Albion High School in 1983.
Snell and his wife, Shelly, reside in Strongsville and have two children.
RON COSBY, JR.
RON COSBY, JR., a native of Xenia, Ohio and most recently an assistant football coach at Cincinnati Hughes High School, is in his third year on the staff. He coaches the defensive backs and coordinates recruiting efforts.
Before coming to Berea, Cosby was an assistant receiver coach (2001-2002) and assistant defensive back coach (2003) at his alma mater, Wilmington College. At Wilmington, Cosby also assisted with the offensive scout team and with kickoff and punt returners, weekly film breakdown, scouting reports, and recruiting.
Cosby, a 2001 Wilmington graduate with a B.S. in physical education, was a four-year starter at wide receiver for the Quakers. As a senior, Cosby earned second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Division III All-America honors by the USA Football All-America team.

KRIS DIAZ
KRIS DIAZ is in his 10th season as an assistant coach. He coaches the offensive line.
Diaz, a 1978 graduate of the College, returned to his alma mater after serving as the head coach at Elyria Catholic H.S. in 1996 and 1997. Prior to being at Elyria Catholic, Diaz was the head coach at Division II Bemidji State in Minnesota from 1989-96 and an assistant coach at Division II Moorhead State from 1983-89. He was also an assistant football and basketball as well as the head track coach at Friends University in Kansas from 1979-83.
In addition to earning his undergraduate degree at B-W, Diaz has a Master's degree from the University of Akron in 1979 and a specialist's degree in educational administration from Moorhead State in 1994.

JAMIE FLEMING
JAMIE FLEMING is in his third season on the Yellow Jacket staff as an assistant football coach. The 1999 graduate of the College and former football player, football student-coach and wrestling letterman, works with the running backs.
Fleming came back to B-W following a six-year stint as an assistant football coach at local Middleburg Heights Midpark H.S. He served as the offensive coordinator for two years and worked with the running backs, punters, kickers and special teams. Fleming also coordinated Midpark’s Kicking Camp. He also served as an assistant wrestling and track and field coach. In track, he worked with the sprinters and vaulters.
Fleming graduated from B-W with a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education. He played wide receiver in football and was key member of four Yellow Jacket wrestling teams. Coach Fleming earned four varsity letters in wrestling.
Fleming is currently a health and physical education teacher at Midpark High School.

ADAM HOWARD
ADAM HOWARD is in his sixth season as an assistant coach and fifth as the Defensive Coordinator. Howard is one of the top Defensive Coordinators in Division III and was recognized for his efforts by receiving the Ohio Athletic Conference Assistant Coach of the Year award in 2003.
A graduate of Springfield Northwestern High School in 1993, Coach Howard received his Bachelor of Science degree from Wilmington College in 1997 and is currently pursuing his Master's degree from the University of Dayton. Prior to coming to B-W, Howard was the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Wilmington Quaker football team. He also served as the head softball coach in 2002 and as an assistant baseball coach from 1999-2001. Howard served as the defensive ends coach at the University of Dayton in 1998-1999.
While at Wilmington as a student-athlete, Coach Howard played four years of football and earned four varsity letters as a defensive back. He was a two-time All-American Mideast Conference selection and earned Football Gazette All-North Region honors as a senior. Howard also served as a team captain as a senior at WC. In addition to football at Wilmington, Howard ran track as a freshman and played baseball as a sophomore and earned a varsity letter in each sport.

RAY HRADEK
RAY HRADEK is in his fourth season as an assistant coach at his alma mater. The 1980 graduate and former B-W standout coaches the wide receivers.
Prior to returning to B-W, Hradek served as an assistant coach at Brunswick High School (2000-2003). Hradek was also the head football coach at Middleburg Heights Midpark H.S. from 1988-99 and had a career mark of 73-47, including one state playoff appearance and two Pioneer Conference titles. Twice he was the PC Coach of the Year. Hradek also coached the west team to a victory in the 1995 Cuyahoga County East-West All-Star Game. In addition to coaching at both Brunswick and Midpark, Hradek also coached at North Olmsted H.S. (1986-87), Lakewood St. Edward H.S. (1984-85) and Mayfield H.S. (1981). He is a member and a past president of the Greater Cleveland Football Coaches Association.
While at B-W, Hradek played football and was a member of B-W's Ohio Athletic Conference championship teams of 1977 and 1978, its NCAA Division III National Championship team of 1978 and served as the team captain in 1979 when the Yellow Jackets again advanced to the Division III Playoffs.

DEAN LASLEY
DEAN LASLEY is in his second season of working with the varsity defensive backs.
Coach Lasley, a 1996 graduate of the College, returned to B-W after coaching at Parma Senior High School for the past eight years. He also served as an assistant coach at Macedonia Nordonia H.S. following graduation. Coach Lasley also earned a Master's of Arts Education degree from B-W in 2002 and currently teaches social studies at Parma Senior H.S. He also coached on the West squad in the annual East-West All-Star Game in 1994.
While at B-W as a student-athlete, Coach Lasley was a three-year letterman and served as a team captain in 1995. He was an OAC Defensive Player of the Week in 1994 and helped the Yellow Jackets win an OAC co-title that season.

RAY MOHR
RAY MOHR is in his second season on the Yellow Jacket staff and will serve as the Freshman Offensive Coordinator. Coach Mohr comes to B-W from North Ridgeville High School (2002-2006) where he served as the Offensive Coordinator and worked with the offensive line and defensive ends. Prior to joining the staff and N.R.H.S., Coach Mohr was the running backs coach at his alma mater, Defiance College, from 1999-2001. He also coached at Bryan H.S. from 1994-1999.
As a player at Defiance College, Coach Mohr was a four-year letterman at linebacker, fullback and on the special teams and helped Defiance compile a 35-5 overall record.

ROY MOORE
ROY MOORE begins his 22nd season on the Yellow Jackets' staff and 20th coaching the outside linebackers. Coach Moore is the senior member of the staff.
Coach Moore is a 1972 graduate and football letterman at B-W. He received his Master's degree from B-W in 1993. Moore coached for 12 years at Midpark High School in the football, basketball and track programs. During his last six years at Midpark, Moore served as defensive coordinator.
Moore is a computer science teacher and curriculum coordinator at Berea High School.

GUS PATOUHAS
CONSTANTINE "GUS" PATOUHAS is his 14th season at his alma mater and is in charge of the defensive line.
Patouhas, a 1993 B-W graduate, was a three-year starter at defensive end. He earned Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-American honors and was B-W's Dick Van Almen Award winner in 1992. In 2002, Patouhas was inducted into the Keystone H.S. Athletic Hall of Fame. At B-W, Patouhas was an Academic All-OAC selection. In 2002, he graduated with honors with a Master's of Education degree from Cleveland State University. He currently teaches physical education in the Berea School System.
In addition to being an outstanding student and football player at B-W, Coach Patouhas was a key student assistant in the Office of College Relations and worked in the Sports Information Office.

MIKE SMITH
MIKE SMITH is in his 17th season as a member of the Yellow Jacket coaching staff. Smith, a 1979 graduate of Miami (Ohio) University, coaches the tight ends.
Following graduation, Smith served as a coach at the high school level and Oberlin College. At B-W, Smith has coached the offensive line, running backs and now the tight ends. Smith has served as an offensive line coach at the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University summer camps.

RON SKELLEY
RON SKELLEY, a 1971 graduate of the College, is in his fourth season at B-W. He will work with the freshman linebackers and is the freshman team defensive coordinator.
Coach Skeley received his Master's Degree in Education from B-W in 1982. In addition, Skelley was the head football coach at Parma Senior H.S. from 1993-2003 and the head football coach at Parma Normandy H.S. from 1987-1993.
In addition to his coaching duties, he is a social studies teacher at Parma H.S. and was the 1986 Parma Public Schools and Ohio House of Representatives Outstanding Teacher.

GARY WROBLEWSKI
Gary Wroblewski is in his third season on the staff and works with the linebackers, helps to coordinate the special teams and assists with strength and conditioning.
Coach Wroblewski came to B-W from Cleveland Heights High School, where he served in a number of capacities since 2000. Previously, he worked with the Cleveland Browns from 1986-1991 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Coach Wroblewski also has served as an assistant coach at the collegiate level at both John Carroll University and Columbia (N.Y.) University, in the high school ranks at Wickliffe H.S. and St. Peter Chanel H.S. and with the Cleveland Fusion of the Women’s Professional Football League.
While serving as a strength and conditioning coach, Coach Wroblewski has worked with a number of players at the high school and collegiate levels who have advanced to play for NCAA Division I football programs and professional teams in the National Football League (NFL).
Coach Wroblewski graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and earned his Masters of Education in sport management and exercise science from Cleveland State University. Wroblewski currently teaches at Cleveland Heights High School.
