WILMINGTON, OHIO – Junior quarterbacks Ryan O’Rourke (Avon) and Andrew Dziak (Maple Heights/Padua Franciscan) combined for six touchdowns and the Yellow Jacket offense accounted for a season-high 580 yards of total offense as the Baldwin-Wallace College football team shutout Wilmington College, 75-0, today (Saturday, October 22, 2011) in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on the Townsend Field in the Williams Stadium. This was the second straight season that B-W has shutout Wilmington (113-0).
The 75 points was the fourth time in school history during the modern era that the Yellow Jackets have scored 70 or more points in a game. The others were when B-W blanked Marietta College, 73-0, in 1973, defeated St. Lawrence (N.Y.), 71-7 in opening game of the 1978 NCAA Division III Playoffs and beat Heidelberg University, 71-0, during the 1982 season. In addition, the Yellow Jackets defeated Kent State University 118-0 during the 1923 season for the most-ever points scored on the gridiron.
With the victory, B-W has won four straight games and improves to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the OAC. The loss drops the Quakers to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the OAC and Wilmington has now lost 23 straight games dating back to the 2009 season.

After a 15-yard Quaker punt that was partially blocked, B-W added to its lead when O’Rourke connected on a 26-yard pass play with senior wide receiver Dan Turner (Youngstown/Ursuline). The extra point was no good and the Yellow Jackets led 20-0 with 13:03 remaining in the first half. The TD-pass capped off a 3-play and 34 yard drive that took just 54 seconds off the clock.
B-W stretched its lead to 27-0, at the 9:52 mark of the second quarter on a 29-yard TD pass from O’Rourke to sophomore WR Mike McGervey (Canton/ St. Thomas Aquinas). Mohler tacked on the extra point.

The Yellow Jacket defense continued its dominance of the game when Thompson picked off his second pass of the game and took it back 25 yards to paydirt with just 41 second left in the first half. The interception was his team-high fourth of the season and second return for a TD in the last two games. Following a Mohler PAT kick, B-W led 41-0 going into halftime.
