Matt Bowen's Baldwin-Wallace College Football Notes: Matt Bowen was a key four-year member of the Baldwin-Wallace College football team. He earned three varsity letters and was a three-year varsity contributor as a cornerback. The 6'0" and 190-pounder was a three-year starter who earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors as a junior (2010-11) and was a two-time Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District student-athlete (2010-11 and 2011-12). As a senior, Matt appeared on the CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America ballot. As a junior, he was named OAC Defensive Player on October 11, 2010 of the Week for his efforts in a 35-34 win versus Otterbein University on October 9, 2010. Individually, Matt had 108 career tackles, including 70 solo stops, 6.5 tackles for loss with a quarterback sack and a forced fumble. He also intercepted six passes with two returns for touchdown, including an 88-yarder in the win versus Otterbein. As a sophomore, Matt saw action in seven varsity games as well as three as a freshman. As a senior, B-W finished 8-2 and ranked 24th in the final Division III national polls (AFCA and d3football.com). As a junior, B-W finished 7-3 overall. He had a career-high 10 tackles at Heidelberg University (in his hometown of Tiffin, Ohio) on October 24, 2009. He had 37 career pass breakups. In addition, Matt carried a 3.7 grade point average, was a member of Big Brothers & Big Sisters of America and the B-W Free Enterprise Club. He intends on attending graduate school. While at Tiffin Columbian High School: Matt played football for three seasons and earned two letters, played basketball for four seasons and earned two varsity letters, and participated in track and field for three seasons and earned two varsity letters. In football, Matt was All-Conference, All-District, All-North Central Ohio and All-Ohio. In the classroom, Matt was a member of the Honor Roll. |
