BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin- Wallace College Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame welcomes eight new members this weekend. They are Roy Seitz '43, Terry Allerton '68, Gay Wellington-Geigel '70, Keith Boedicker '83, Thomas Scholato '88, Joe Dlass '93, Justine Waugh Tinline '94 and Kristenne Robison '96.
Last night the Hall of Fame Class of 2006 was feted at the annual Hall of Fame dinner at the Strosacker College Union. Today, the inductees will be introduced to you prior to the football game with Heidelberg College.
Each of our new inductees have distinguished themselves as outstanding students, student-athletes and role models at the College. We are honored to have them join us today and stand before you as some of the best and brightest that the College has produced.
Congratulations, Hall of Fame Class of 2006. We are proud of you and appreciate you taking the time to join us this weekend and for giving us the opportunity to recognize your accomplishments both off and on the field of competition.
Roy E. Seitz ’43
Roy Seitz earned a Bachelor of Music degree from B-W in 1943 but he has been a dedicated volunteer for Yellow Jacket athletics for some 50 years. When Lee Tressel came to coach football in 1957, Roy began helping him with some of the clerical details of the job. In the 1960s, he helped Lee to organize the Lettermen’s Golf Outing and always could be counted on for chef duties, whether for the golf outing, the coaching staff retreat or team picnics.
Roy supervised the press box during high school football and basketball tournaments for 45 years and, during the week, was the announcer and timer in the press box. He also worked at home track meets and he and his wife still host a post-season barbecue for the women’s basketball team. Continuing a tradition that began in 1958, Roy throws out the first football at the first practice of the year.
Terry Allerton '68
When Terry Allerton graduated from B-W in 1968, he was the College’s second all-time basketball scorer with 1,499 points. Today, more than 30 years later, he still ranks 11th in points scored and always will be regarded as one of the best to ever play in a Yellow Jacket uniform. He was a two-year Cleveland Plain Dealer College All-Star Team pick and a two-time All OAC guard. In 1967 he was named to the NCAA Mideast Regional Small College All-Star team and, in his senior year, he was named Most Valuable Player.
After college, Terry continued to play. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association in 1968. Later, while in Goodyear’s management training program, he played for the company’s AAU Industrial League team and also played with Fort Sam Houston’s Basketball travel squad. He became the owner of a small construction company in New York and in 1987 joined Holt Construction in New Jersey(owned by his Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brother, Jack Holt) as a senior project manager. He rose to vice president and, since 1995, has been president of the company.
Gay Wellington-Geigel ’70
As an undergraduate, Gay was involved in a number of sports including field hockey, basketball, badminton and tennis. She was a 1970 badminton doubles champion and also was named the outstanding senior women’s tennis player. Following graduation, this health and physical education major pursued a career as an instructor in a wide variety of athletics, such as aquatics, golf and gymnastics, but her major focus was tennis. Listed in the international Who’s Who in Tennis, she was a tennis pro at Rock Creek and Four Seasons racquet clubs, and Lake Forest Country Club. She was the girls’ tennis coach for the Aurora Board of Education and Cuyahoga Community College West. She is a member of the U.S. Tennis Association and listed in the U.S. Professional Tennis Registry.
Gay continues to be an active athlete, jogging every day and playing tennis regularly. And, in addition to her athletic activities, she has added a new accomplishment. She is now a self-employed artist.
Keith A. Boedicker ’83
A football student and athlete, Keith Boedicker started on top and remains there today as one of the best high school football coaches in the state of Ohio.
As a Yellow Jacket freshman freshman, Keith was on special teams for the Yellow Jackets in 1978 when they won the NCAA Division III National Championship. He was a three-year starter and letterman. As a defensive lineman, Keith was named as a two-time first-team All-OAC selection. In his junior year, he was a leading tackler and twice tabbed as the OAC Defensive Player of the Week. At Homecoming that year, Keith also received the Frank Ropollo Player of the Game Award. Keith majored in health and physical education at B-W. In 2001, he received a master’s degree in teaching from Nova Southeastern University. He has been a teacher and successful coach at Nordonia High School for 13 years. In 2003, was named "Coach of the Year (co-coach)" by the Associated Press Northeast Inland All-District and annually his Nordonia High teams have advanced to play in the OHSAA state playoffs. In addition, Keith joins his younger brother, Kert '87, as a member of the Hall of Fame.
Thomas B. Scholato ’88
Tom was a four-year letterman in both football and track and helped both programs to winning seasons for four straight years. Tom's athletic career culminated in the spring of 1988 when he was the NCAA Division III National Champion in the javelin with a top throw of 215’3". Tom also was named B-W’s Outstanding Senior Male Athlete later that spring. He also was a captain of the track team, two-time Division III All-American and a three-time OAC champion. In football, Tom was an All-OAC outside linebacker, a second-team All-OAC and first-team Academic All-OAC player who also earned COSIDA-GTE Academic All- American accolades. In addition to his athletic abilities, he was an outstanding student and a member of the Dayton C. Miller, Alpha Lambda and Delta Mu Delta honoraries. He also was a resident assistant and a member of Alpha Tau Omega.
Today, Tom lives in Hendersonville, Tennessee where he is regional sales manager for RUB, Inc.
Joe Dallas ’93
Joe Dallas was an outstanding baseball player for the Yellow Jackets and one of the best catchers to ever where the Brown & Gold for Bob Fisher's program.
As a player, Joe compiled a number of records which still stand today. He holds the school-record for hits in a season with 64 and had the highest career batting average (.402). He was named a first-team All-OAC designated hitter and a second-team, All-Mideast Region catcher. In 1991, Joe earned the "Big Stick" award for hitting and in 1992, the "Gold Glove" award for defense. He also played with the B-W Racquetball Club and served as a key student assistant for four years in the sports information office.
Since graduation from Baldwin-Wallace, Joe has focused on a career in teaching and coaching. He first coached basketball at Westlake High School, then became the Head Baseball Coach at Elyria Catholic High School where he worked from 1998 to 2001. In 2000, Joe was named as the Lorain County "Coach of the Year"and led EC to the OHSAA State Tournament. Since 2002, he has taught and coached basketball and golf in the Cleveland Public School system. Joe is currently teaching at East Technical High School. He earned a Master of Education degree from Cambridge College.
Justine Waugh Tinline ’94
As a diver, Justine compiled an impressive record with the Yellow Jacket swim team and helped to lead her team to a winning record each season. She set three school records: for one-meter, three-meter and one-meter voluntary dives. Her one-meter voluntary dive record of 201 points still stands today. She earned three letters for diving. In addition as a senior, Justine became the second female diver to ever qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet. She qualified for the national meet by scoring a record 385.80 points in the one-meter dive at the Cleveland College Meet at Cleveland State University.
Following graduation Justine, an education major, coached diving at Fairview High School for 10 years. She is now the director of Children’s Ministry for John Knox Church in North Olmsted. She is the mother of five children and an active volunteer for the PTA.
Kristenne M. Robison ’96
While an undergraduate at B-W, Kris Robison was an outstanding track and field athlete. Competing in javelin, shot put and discus, she was a six-time OAC title winner and an All-Ohio Champion. She was a four-time letter winner and two-time NCAA Division III national qualifier. She placed 17th in javelin at the 1995 NCAA Division III National Championship. In 1996 she was named B-W’s Outstanding Senior Female Athlete.
Following graduation from B-W with a major in psychology, she coached volleyball and track and field, first at Smith College, then at Denison University before becoming the volleyball coach at St. Lawrence University. She went on to earn a master’s in education from The Ohio State University, and a master’s in sociology from Syracuse University where she is currently teaching and pursuing a Ph.D. in sociology. She has a number of publications to her credit and has been a presenter at several professional meetings.
