Today is Professor Appreciation Day at Finnie Stadium the Yellow Jacket Seniors thank the Faculty
BEREA, OHIO — Ever since John Snell became the Head Football Coach at Baldwin Wallace University in 2002, it has become a tradition for the senior members of his Yellow Jacket football team to say thank you to some very special people -- the members of the College faculty.
Today, the senior members of the football team each will honor a member of the faculty who has made a difference in the educational experience of that particular student-athlete. Today is the Fourth Annual Professor Appreciation Day.
Prior to the kickoff of today's game, the members of the faculty who were chosen by the seniors on the football squad will be introduced to the crowd and honored with a framed copy of the cover of the today's football game program.
"We would like to thank the members of our faculty and staff who take the time to aid in the experience of the members of our football program," said fifth-year Head Coach John Snell. "These are very special people.
"We feel that our young men get a great experience both in the classroom and on the football field," continued Snell. "The men and women of our faculty and staff have always taken a keen interest in our student-athletes. This is another way to say thank you to them. Their efforts are appreciated."
"When we came to Baldwin Wallace for our initial campus visit four and sometimes five years ago, Coach Snell was very upfront when he said that academics are our main priority and that getting the opportunity to play football at BW is a privilege," said senior Academic All-OAC safety and team captain Matt Stevens from North Canton and Glen- Oak High School. "Coach Snell is true to his word.
"BW is a very special place," continued Stevens, a pre-physical therapy major. "You get an outstanding educational experience with a great deal of one-on-one attention from your professors. Each member of the faculty and staff at the College seek to make a difference. I am very pleased with the experience that has been afforded me at Baldwin Wallace University and am appreciative of efforts of our faculty."
The Baldwin Wallace community would also like to congratulate each of the chosen professors.
Thank you for making a difference.
