Welcome to Youth Football Day/ "Take a Kid to the Game" at Baldwin-Wallace

BEREA, OHIO -- Welcome to Youth Football Day at Baldwin-Wallace College. We are pleased that you are here to join us for our morning skills sessions beginning at 8:30 a.m. and/ or for our football game versus Muskingum College at The George Finnie Stadium at 1:30 p.m.

The sponsors of today's event are Baldwin-Wallace College the Sun Newspapers, Salem Communications and WHK Radio (1420 AM), RTM Restaurant Management Group and Arby's, Pepsi Americas, the Cleveland Browns, the B-W Bookstore and Boise-Cascade Office Products. B-W would like to thank each sponsor for its help and participation.

Local youth football players (Southwest YMCA and others) aged 14 or younger, members of CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) teams, local grade school children and youth football team cheerleaders will be admitted for free. The first 500 young people will receive a spiral notebook and felt pen that can be used for autographs of players, coaches and cheerleaders following the game. Each young person will also receive a coupon that can be redeemed at Arby's. For each regular value meal purchased by a parent, the child will receive a free adventure meal. You will also receive a certificate of participation and coupon for a free french fry and a key chain from the Cleveland Browns.

Our morning sessions begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. A that time, the youngsters will receive a gift packet. From approximately 9:00 a.m. until 9:40 a.m., the B-W Junior Varsity and Freshman offensive players will demonstrate how to properly warm up and then demonstrate both football technique and position skills. We will take a break (sponsored by Pepsi) from 9:40 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and then have a session that is defense-oriented from 10:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.

We will then escort our guests across the street to the B-W Recreation Center and the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium and begin our Lifeskills sessions from 11:00 a.m. to apprfoximately 11:40 a.m. From 11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Berea Police Officer Dave Fadil will talk about "Just Say No" to drugs and alcohol. From 11:15 to 11:30 a.m., B-W Assistant Football Coaches Gus Patouhas and Ian Formaz will talk about getting a good quality education. Then at 11:30 a.m., Yellow Jacket third-year Head Coach John Snell will conclude the morning sessions by addreing the youngsters with an inspiration welcome to get them ready for the football game.

We will break for lunch from 11:40 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.

The afternoon session begins at 12:50 p.m. with the youngsters who are just attendng the afternoon session receiving a gift pack while lining up at the North end of Finnie Stadiumprior to participating in the annual Shrine Day Parade. At the south end of the stadium, the kids will then line up and form a tunnel for the B-W varsity players to run through and out onto the field for the 1:30 p.m. game versus Muskingum. They will then take their seats in the stands for the game.

Following the game, the kids can join the players, coaches and cheerleaders outside of the Yellow Jacket lockerrom and meet the players and get autographs.
