
Ariel Brough
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College women’s basketball student-athlete Ariel Brough (Powell/ Olentangy Liberty) and men’s soccer student-athlete Russ Mika (Medina/ Senior) have been named the College’s 2009-10 Clyde Lamb Scholar-Athlete Award winners.
Criteria for the award includes at least two years participation in an Ohio Athletic Conference-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his or her institution.
Brough compiled an oustanding 3.97 grade point average as a political science major. In 2009-10, she received the prestigious Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship awarded by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and was named an ESPN The Magazine third-team Academic All-American. On the court in 2009-10, Brough enjoyed her finest season as a Yellow Jacket and was named an All-OAC choice for the second straight season.
Brough averaged 10.9 points per game and led B-W at 6.8 rebounds per game. She also was second in the OAC with 66 blocked shots. In 113 career games, Brough totaled 862 points, 657 rebounds to rank seventh in school history and had a school-record 236 blocked shots to rank second all-time in OAC history. She was a part of 87 wins (87-26 overall) with one OAC regular season and one OAC Tournament championship and two NCAA Division III national postseason berths.
Brough was a three-time first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV pick, a three-time Academic All-OAC choice and a two-time All-OAC choice. She was a Dean’s List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Pi Sigma Alpha and Dayton C. Miller honor societies. She plans on attending law school in the fall of 2010.

Russ Mika
Mika posted a 3.68 grade point average while double-majoring in business administration and finance. He was a two-time first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV selection and was named the OAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2009.
As a senior, Mika posted a 13-6-1 record with 84 saves and eight shutouts. He started all 21 games and allowed 0.95 goals-per-game with an .816 save percentage. In 51 career games, he compiled a 28-14-5 overall record with 13 shutouts, 206 saves and a 1.14 goals against average.
Mika received the 2010 Humanitarian Award at the B-W Student-Athletes Award banquet for his work with “Soccer Balls 4 Haiti.” He was one of four B-W students who organized the campaign and collected more than 1,525 soccer balls for the children in earthquake-stricken Haiti.
The Clyde Lamb Award is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from each of the 10 OAC institutions. The recipients will be honored at the Clyde Lamb banquet on Monday, May 17.
