NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship Meet in Hanover, Ind.
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's cross country team placed ninth of 31 teams and the men finished 13th of 31 teams today (Nov. 11) at the NCAA Division III Regional Championship Meet in Hanover, Indiana.
Earning All-Regional honors for the second year in a row was sophomore Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich.) and senior Megan Via (Brookville). Both Scullion and Via improved upon their 27th and 29th place finishes from last year. Scullion was 16th in 23:10.4 and Via was 21st in 23:20.9. Crossing the finish line third and fourth for the Jackets' were junior Lindsay Brickner (Lisbon/ David Anderson) and freshman D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea). Brickner was 56th in 24:24.8 and Hlavin was 61st in 24:29.7. Rounding out the to five was junior Kristen Balogh (Loveland) in 81st place with a time of 24:57.8.
The top finisher for the men's team was sophomore Nate Bowen (Fremont), who finished 43rd with a time of 26:58.6. Finishing in a group of three were sophomore Derek Hill (Fremont) in 77th place with a time of 27:31.0, junior Aaron Apathy in 84th place with a time of 27:39.3 and freshman Justin Tuckosh (Brookpark/ Mid Park) in 88th place with a time of 27:43.6. Completing the top five was freshman Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover) in 108th place with a time of 28:07.1.
This meet was the last meet for both the women's and men's cross country teams. Scullion and Via will now await individual bids into the national meet to be anounced at a later time. The indoor track and field season will begin on Friday, January 19, 2006 with the Mid-January Meet hosted by Baldwin-Wallace on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
