Baldwin-Wallace College Men Fourth and Women Fifth at OWU Meet in Delaware

DELAWARE, OHIO --  Baldwin-Wallace College junior Kenneth Janosko (Mentor) placed third of 228 runners and led the Yellow Jacket men’s cross country team to a fourth place finish of 17 teams today (Saturday, September 10, 2011) at the annual Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational Meet at Liberty Park. The B-W women placed fifth of 18 teams This was the second week of competition for the B-W men and women and the first scored meet.

The Yellow Jacket men scored 174 points to place fourth. NCAA Division II Ashland University was the men’s champion. The B-W women scored  150 points to place fifth. Oberlin College was the women’s champion.

Janosko led the men as he placed third and completed the 8k course in 26:12 and was followed in the top five (college cross-country scoring is comprised of the top five runners per school) by junior David Gerding (Strongsville) in 36th place with a time of 27:40.1, senior Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) was 42nd in 27:51.4, sophomore Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was 48th in 28:00.5 and freshman Greg Blevins (Mentor) was 53rd in 28:05.9.

In addition to the top five runenrs, senior Drew Beck (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua Academy) was 59th in 28:15.3, senior Tom Wilkin (Powell/ Olentangy Libert) was 70th in 28:30.2, junior Nick Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands) was 83rd in 29:03.5, freshman Isaac Baker (Lithia, Fla./Newsome) was 109th in 29:36.9, senior Michael Sisko (Olmsted Falls) was 112th in 29:41.1, senior Brian Gibbins (Rocky River) was 135th in 30:16.1, sophomore Stephen Humbert (Middletown/ Lakota East) was 145th in 30:41.9 and Justin Brown (Sandusky)
was 184th in 32:11.2.   

Junior Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) led the women as she was 10th and completed the 5K course in 19:27.6. She was followed in the top five by the junior trio of Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton), who placed 22nd in 19:48.0; Shaina Kovatch (Parma/ Valley Forge), who was 25th in 19:54.2; and Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South), who was 36th in 20:09.7; and sophomore Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) was 57th in 20:44.1.


In addition to the top five runners, Lauren Hutka (North Ridgeville/ Grafton Midview) was 60th in 20:49.1, Blair Vrcan (Mentor) was 98th in 21:33.2,  junior Lynn Fahy (Ontario, N.Y./ Wayne Central) was 114th in 21:50.0, senior Judy Patterson (Aliquippa, Pa./ Monaca Center) was 127th in 22:17.2, senior Julie Kotesovec (Litchgield Twp./ Medina Buckeye) was 142 in 22:33.9, freshmen Bryn Allen (Chardon) was 156th in 22:54.7 and Paris Sulzer (Parma Heights/ Valley Forge) was 222nd in 27:13.9.  


The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Saturday, Sept. 17 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan and compete at the Knight Invite at Calvin (Mich.) College at 10:00 a.m.
