The Baldwin-Wallace College Cross Country Teams Placed First and Fourth

at the Ohio University Invitational

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's cross country team placed first out of six schools at the Ohio University Invitational and the men's team placed fourth out of five schools.

Sophomore All-Region Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich./ East Kentwood) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a second place finish overall in a time of 19:50.60. Senior All-Region Megan Via (Brookville) finished next behind Scullion with a third place finish in a time of 20:14.70. The next four runners for the Yellow Jackets, freshman D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea), senior Kelly Staruch (Hinckley/ Medina Highland), juniors Kristen Balogh (Loveland) and Linday Brickner (Lisbon/ Donald Anderson), followed each other into the finishline with places of 11th, 13th, 14th and 16th, with times of 20:43.60, 21:03.50, 21:06.10 and 21:10.40, respectively. Finishing out the top seven was junior Amy Jenkins with a 31st place finish in a time of 22:25.90.

Sophomore Derek Hill (Fremont) led the men's team with a eight place finish in a time of 28:20.40. Senior John Townsend (Chardon), who finished next in 17th with a time o f28:47.60, led the next four runners who steadily finished one after another spread out by three-four place. Finishing 19th place was sophomore Nate Bowen (Fremont) with a time of 28:51.80, 22nd place belong to junior Aaron Apathy (Parma/ Padua) in a time of 28:56.80, coming across the line in 25th place was freshman Justin Tuckosh (Brook Park/ Midpark) in a time of 29:07.40 and freshman James Ebert (North Canton/ Hoover) finished 27th in a time of 29:17.40. Finishing out the top seven runners was senior Bobby Phillips (Akron/ Manchester) with a 36th place finish in 30:07.90.

The Yellow Jackets will take the next weekend off and then travel to the Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet on Friday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
