Fourth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's cross country team placed second while the men tied for fourth placed at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet held at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.
Crossing the finish-line first for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich./ East Kentwood) placing second overall in a time of 23:21.5. Finishing fifth place overall was senior Megan Via (Brookville) in a time 23:43.9. Finishing together were freshman D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) and junior Lindsay Brickner (Lisbon/ Donald Anderson) in 13th and 15th places with times of 24:33.4 and 24:42.6, respectively. Also crossing the finish-line together were senior Kelly Staruch (Hinckley/ Medina Highland) and junior Kristen Balogh (Loveland) in 20th and 22nd places with times of 25:04.6 and 25:08.1, respectively. Rounding out the top seven was freshman Brittany Giesken (Ottawa/ Glandorf) in 27th place with a time of 25:20.9.
For the men's team, sophomores Nate Bowen and Derek Hill (Fremont) led the team with 15th and 16th place finishes in times of 26:58.0 and 26:59.7, respectively. Crossing the finish-line third for the Yellow Jackets was freshman Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover) in 32nd place overall with a time of 27:32.2. Senior Aaron Apathy (Parma/ Padua) and freshman Justin Tuckosh (Brook Park/ Midpark) finished together in 40th and 43rd places with times of 27:49.4 and 27:53.8, respectively. Finishing out the top seven was senior John Townsend (Chardon) in 54th place with a time of 28:18.8 and freshman Jeff Bonezzi (Medina. Senior) in 71st place with a time of 28:59.4.
Both teams will take next weekend off before competing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championship Meet on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Hanover (Ind.) College.
