BEREA, OHIO - The women's cross country ended their season with a fifth place finish, two spots shy of qualifying the team to the national meet next weekend, while the men finished 15th at the 2003 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet held at Hanover (Ind.) College. Senior All-OAC runner Jennifer Southall (Willoughby/South) ended her stellar career by finishing 15th overall in a time of 23:11.
The other women scoring for the Yellow Jackets were Lisa Bartkiewicz (Berea) (35th, 23:57), Tatum Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield/Pymatuning Valley) (39th, 24:09), Rihana Knotts (Middletown/Madison) (41st, 24:11), and Megan Via (Brookville) (47th, 24:21).
For the men, freshman sensation Chris Buhovecky (Brunswick/Padua) ended his first season at B-W by placing 34th, which led the men's team.
In addition to Buhovecky, scoring for the men were Josh Fetzer (Ashland/Senior), Jason Ream (Burton/Berkshire), Chris Smolinski (Parma/Padua), and Brian Adkins (Berea).
The 2003 NCAA Division III Meet will be next Saturday, November 22, at Hanover (Ind.) College.
