Hanover (Ind.) Madison Kiwanis Invitational, While the Men's Team
Places Sixth
BEREA, OHIO -- The Yellow Jacket women’s team had a strong showing this weekend placing third of ten teams at Hanover College (In.) for the Pre-Regional Invitational. They only lost by 10 points to first place finishers and Ohio Athletic Conference rivals Ohio Northern. Anderson University (In.) placed second. The Yellow Jacket men’s team showed their newly added depth with a shuffle in team positioning placing sixth of ten teams.
The Yellow Jacket where led by sophomore Ashley Scullion (Kentwood), who placed second with a time of 19:14. Close behind was senior Megan Via (Brookville), placing sixth with a time of 19:52. Sophomore Kristen Balogh (Loveland) was next with a twelfth place time of 20:15. Rounding out the top five in 17th and 18th places was freshman D’Arcy Hlavin (Berea) and senior Kelly Staruch (Medina, Highland). Hlavin ran a time of 20:21 and Staruch ran a 20:27.
Leading the men in scoring was freshman Justin Tuckosh (Middle Heights, Midpark) in 20th place with a time of 27:36. Senior John Townsend (Chardon) placed 33rd running a time of 28:15. The sophomore Fremont Ross duo of Derek Hill and Nate Bowen battled to the line to determine who would be 39th and who would be 40th. Hill won the battle with a time of 28:29 and Bowen ran a 28:33. Rounding out the men’s team was freshman Jimmy Eberts (North Canton) with a 42nd place time of 28:37.Next weekend both the men's and women's teams travel to the Calvin (Mich.) Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich. Racing begins at 11:00 a.m.
