at the Carnegie-Mellon (Pa.) University Invitational
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's cross country team placed fourth out of 20 teams at the Carnegie-Mellon (Pa.) University Invitational, while the men placed eighth out of 19 teams.
Leading the women's team was sophomore All-Region Ashley Scullioin (Kentwood, Mich./ East Kentwood) placing thrid with a time of 18:46.99. Running a season-best time and finishing in 17th place was senior All-Region Megan Via (Brookville) with a time of 19:26.52. Freshman D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) also finished in a season-best time of 19:31.36, placing 21st. Rounding out the top seven was junior Lindsay Brinckner (Lisbon/ Donald Anderson) in 54th place running a season-best time of 20:12.27, senoir Kelly Staruch (Hinckley/ Medina Highland) with a time of 20:25.03 placing her 58th overall, junior Kristen Balogh (Loveland) ran a time of 20:37.48 finishing in 68th place and freshman Brittany Giesken (Ottawa / Glandorf) ran a season-best time of 20:42.08 placing 73rd.
Leading the men's team was sophomore Derek Hill (Fremont) finishing in the 18th spot with a season-bests time of 26:39.00. Crossing the finishline closely together were sophomore Nate Bowen (Fremont) and freshman Justin Tuckosh (Brook Park/ Midpark) in 29th ad 38th places both running season-best times of 26:53.87 and 27:03.04, respectively. Finishing out the top seven grouped in two pairs. Seniors John Townsend (Chardon) and Bobby Phillips (Akron/ Manchester) in 57th and 63rd place with Townsend running a 27:31.10 and Phillips running a season-best time of 27:34.62. Freshmen Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover) and Jeff Bonezzi (Medina/ Senior) placed 93rd and 96th in times of 28:20.89 and 28:28.08, a season-best for Bonezzi.
Two weeks from today, on Saturday, Oct. 28th, both teams will travel to Tiffin, Ohio where they will compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet at 11:00 a.m. hosted by Heidelberg College.
