B-W Women's Cross Country Team is First and the Men Finish Third at the Cardinal Invitational

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College men's and women's cross country teams competed today at the Otterbein Cardinal Invitational. The women finished in first place of seven teams and the men were third of eight schools.  This was the fourth weekend of competition for the cross country teams.

The B-W women totaled 29 points and finished ahead of host Otterbein and the rest of the field by a large margin.  Otterbein came in second with 67 points followed by Mount Union with 68 points.  The Yellow Jacket men were third with a total of 92 points and finished behing Mount Union with 28 points and host Otterbein with 39 points.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference runnner Jessica Textoris (Akron/ Medina Highland High School) as she was first individually of 109 total runners and covered the 5,000-meter course in 19:30 overall.  It was the fourth straight week that Textoris led the B-W women.  She also did so at the Case Western Reserve University Bill Sudeck Invitational (Sept. 7), at the Bowling Green State University Invitational (Sept. 14) and at the IUP Invitational (Sept. 21).

Textoris was joined in the Top 10 by  senior Nicole Drouhard (Canfield/ Austintown Fitch H.S.) in third place in 19:43, senior All-OAC Lynn Katanik (Parma Padua) in sixth place in 19:53, senior Tara Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield/ Pymatuning Valley H.S.) in ninth place in 20:31 and junior Jennifer Southall (Willoughby/South) in 10th place in 20:33.

The B-W men were led by senior Brad Geletka (Kirtland H.S.) in sixth place as he covered the 8,000-meter course in 26:33 overall.  It was the fouth straight week that Geletka also led the men.

Joining Geletka in the Top 20 was junior Bob Magyar (Lyndhurst Brush H.S.) in 14th place with a time of 27:03.

The Yellow Jacket men and women will be back in action next weekend when they host Ohio Northern at 11:00 a.m.
