BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's cross country team won its fourth straight Ohio Athletic Conference title and its 14th in the 18 years that the OAC has sponsored women's championships when it placed first of 10 schools today at the OAC Championship Meet at Otterbein College in Westerville. The Yellow Jacket men placed fifth.
Leading the way for the B-W women was senior Jessica Textoris (Medina Highland High School) as she placed second individually of 135 runners with a time of 19:16.4. Textoris was joined as an All-OAC runner (Top 10 finish) by senior Nicole Drouhard (Canfield/ Austintown Fitch H.S.) in third place in 19:26.9, senior Lynn Katanik (Parma Padua H.S.) in sixth place in 19:37.0 and junior Jen Southall (Willoughby South H.S.) in 10th place in 19:49.2 overall.
For Drouhard, it marked the fourth straight year that she has earned All-OAC honors. It was the third time for Katanik and second for Textoris. Textoris has also led all Yellow Jacket women in all eight meets so far this year. The OAC title also marked the sixth title that the B-W women have won this fall.
The B-W men placed fifth of 10 schools and were led by senior Brad Geletka (Kirtland H.S.), who placed 11th in 26:17.3 overall.
The Yellow Jacket cross country teams will be back in action in two weeks when they run at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Meet at Ohio Northern University in Ada. The top two teams qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet. B-W has qualified for the national meet in each of the past four years.
